ANCA’s road to acclaim was galvanized in 2010 when she was booked as the opening act for Hip- Hop starlet Trina. She then went on to win the Slip & Slide /Atlantic Records “Who’s Hotter than me” showcase in Miami Florida in May of 2011. ANCA’s intense lyrics and crowd pleasing charm delivered a triumph over 18 male counterparts in that competition, and since her victory she has been featured as an act on the Source Magazines “Hottest Homecoming Tour” as well as various performances at the country’s largest HBCU’s.
Through the mentoring of DJ Bigga Rankin and Jayski of 95 south, 21 year old ANCA”s sound has taken shape, transforming from simplistic songs to energized hits. Now under the management of the T.E.M.P.O Publishing group ANCA’s career is beginning to take shape as well; as she is currently recording her first highly anticipated solo project. The road this colorful, swag-filled, multifaceted artist has traveled to arrive at this point is present in every performance and will be evident in the Hate or Homage Mix Tape coming winter 2012. - THE DU GROUP

“Who’s ANCA? Your name is Ankle” the reaction of Anquette Smith’s uncle,
A skinny 8 year old, Anquette Smith made her first major career decision as she revamped her affectionate nickname of “Ankle” to a more stage worthy brand “ANCA”. By age 12 her talent had been recognized as this energetic preteen entered a middle school for performing arts, this trend was continued when the vivacious teen received her high school diploma from the Douglas Anderson School of Performing Arts. The eldest sibling, ANCA and younger brother were raised in Jacksonville, Florida by their single mother; however ANCA attributes her style and swag to both parents whom were instrumental in her development and determination. “Making them proud makes me proud”.
Growing up in Jacksonville, Gospel music and Michael Jackson dominated the airwaves and the community; however ANCA found herself relating to lyricism of Jay-z and aspiring to achieve the professional success of artist such as Queen Latifah. Listening to ANCA’s music, her influences are evident in the form of homage to the artist who inspires her career with tales of travel, love and vast experiences. “I make my best songs when I’m crushing on someone, fresh in a relationship, or headed out of one. New sights, new smells, and tasting life, inspires my sound”. ANCA’s infectious sound is a vibrant display of charisma, intelligence and youthful ambition.
