Biography

Born in Townsville, Kimberley Lysons is a singer/songwriter and artist that has been in love with music since she could sing her first word. She moved to Brisbane in 2004 to seek out other opportunities for her music, and also to commence a degree in Design at the Queensland College of Art, from which she has now graduated. Winner of the agIdeas New Star Award in 2006, she was given the opportunity to complete an internship at London based Visual Production/Performing Arts studio - United Visual Artists. After working on the visual components for U2 and also Jay-Z's World Tour, she has come full circle and returned to Australia with a fresh and bustling enthusiasm for pursuing her first love, music.

She finds that there is no better way to heal the soul than to channel what is bubbling beneath the surface- even though this can bring up some darkness. She sings the truth that she feels- and as we are all connected we can resonate with that honesty. The layers that she creates are woven into the composition to lull the listener and sooth the pain in the lyric. She hopes that each song conveys the journey we each go through, the lessons we learn and the answers we uncover along the way.

Lyrics

Set in Stone

Written By: Kimberley Lysons

Stones thrown
Leaves are blowing
I’m alone
Thanks for going
Set in stone.

Eyes closed
Tears are growing
Strike a pose
I’m Unknowing
This I chose.

Chorus:
Wondering if I’m
Ever truly there
I’m lost in this mist
I don’t need to care
I’m falling away
From this mess I made
It’s easier here
I’m not as afraid.

Heart unfolds
Yes it’s beating
But I’m cold
What a greeting
Polite I’m told.

Speak my mind
But unknowingly
I’m blind
This is showing
The coil unwinds.

Chorus

Hush now
I’m nearly there
I’m still in the dark
But I choose to dare.
I’ll find my own way
Through the blinding light.
I know I’m not far
Won’t give up the fight.

Wondering if I’m
Ever truly there
I’m lost in this mist
I don’t need to care
But I’m finding my way
Through this mess I made
I won’t shed a tear
I’m not as afraid.

The Gold

Written By: Kimberley Lysons

I've been searching, I've been sifting
For the Gold of me, the Gold of me.
I've been digging, I've been scratching
For a piece of me, a piece of me.

Step, step into my heart
Open from the start
don't tear it all apart.
I, I will be the one
The one that has the fun
Fun that comes undone.

I've been hoping, I've been dreaming
To discover you, uncover you.
I've been trying, I've been dying
To return to you, return to you.

Step, step into my heart
Open from the start
don't tear it all apart.
I, I will be the one
The one that has the fun
Fun that comes undone.

Manson Parade

Written By: Kimberley D Lysons

Waking up this morning to a brand new day,
Creeping light beams spread across my face.
Crows are cackling to themselves,
They know more than me.
Dust is settling around me,
Why couldn’t I see?

Pouring the hot water, brewing herbal tea.
It appears that I’d forgotten me.

Pages fluttering in the wind,
Like the passing days.
I was hiding battle scars that
Time cannot erase.

Chorus:
And I- I
Coulnd’t see,
The Sky, high- high
Through the trees.

Walking to the river from Manson Parade,
One dog senses that I am afraid.
Walking faster, now I’m running
Away from those teeth.
I could finally hear my heart beating underneath.

Now I see the clearing and the flowing stream,
The blue sky is almost like a dream.

I wink at the crows above me,
See their plan unfold.
It had always been there waiting,
“Freedom”, I am told.

Chorus x 2

Raven Black

Written By: Kimberley D Lysons

I wished for you
In darkness of my room
But I feared love oh and I
Didn’t have time to look up at the moon.

You cleared away
All the smoke from my flames.
I died today next to you,
Trickling down on my fire with rain.

Raven black
Lost her track,
Found the sea, then we
Re-united under waves drifting back.

I must have stumbled
Into my own dream.
This is too good to be true,
fear it will all come undone at the seams.

Burning in my throat,
I looked in your eyes.
I Couldn’t hold back the truth.
I love you.

Raven black
Lost her track,
Found the sea, then we
Re-united under waves drifting back.

Lizard Skin,
Transition,
We are free, and we
Can let the journey of us begin.

Slowly as you turn around

Written By: Kimberley D Lysons, Chorus by Louis Robert

A Cappella Composition

Slowly as you turn around,
Watching water hit the ground.
I can feel it coming down,
In the moment,
All around.

Ticking, ticking, ticking clock,
Spinning round the jagged rock.
I can see the light unlock,
All my powers have unblocked.

Running down the spiral wall,
I can hear them start to call.
Will I turn or will I run?
I won’t let it be undone.

Tapping on the autumn door,
Falling from the fable claw,
Twisting 'round the crooked gate,
Trees uproot this concrete hate.

Chorus:
Something tells me I know your name,
You once told me to end this game.
