Ancient Heat

Inspired by the icons of progressive disco music (Cerrone, Giorgio Moroder, Patrick Adams), Ancient Heat merges classic disco elegance with a contemporary swagger. But this music is not nostalgic; it is immediate, commanding and colossal. With all nine players churning and burning, the atmosphere they produce is luscious and intoxicating, wild but focused.

Ancient Heat is intricate, accessible and club ready. During a performance songs are weaved together to create a greater whole, pulsing and flowing from moody instrumental breaks to massive pop hooks. The large ensemble and unique array of instruments, which include a horn section, Fender Rhodes and 2 synthesizer players, allow for maximum dynamics. The hazy harmonies of the two singers, the pounding rhythm of drums and percussion, the interlocking melodies of guitars and keyboards and the psychedelic clicks and whirrs of synths coalesce in a revelrous and euphoric climax, guaranteed to get people out of their seats and on the dance floor.

Recently, Ancient Heat was selected to headline the 3-year anniversary of Supernature, a monthly dance party at Rotture. They also played (and nearly sold out) Holocene's Studio 69 dance party. Ancient Heat has shared the stage with the elite in Portland's dance community, including Miracles Club, Soft Metals, DJ Copy and Purple & Green.
