ANDERS HAGBERG

MELODIC BEAUTY, DYNAMIC GROOVES AND PLAYFUL IMPROVISATIONS.
Swedish flute- and soprano sax player Anders Hagberg and his new nordic group has during the past year recorded their first CD. It´s entitled Stories of Now and will be released in august 2011.

Their music has a unique sound; winds and voice bears melodies with haunting beauty, flute beatboxing in dialogue with percussion, warm bass vamps and crystal notes from the prepared piano.

The musicians are great improvisers with background in jazz and with their ears and minds open to the world. One can hear themes from Scandinavian root music as well as indian rythms and japanese sounds, all blended to a personal and exciting expression.

Anders has toured worldwide with groups such as Mynta, New Jungle Orchestra and Yggdrasil. With a substantial number of recordings to his name, Anders has also been commissioned to compose music for several films and dance performances. He has collaborated with visual arts and his solo performances include the unique contrabass flute and live-electronics Anders also works as a Senior Lecturer in improvisation at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg.

Johannes Lundberg, bassist and soundengineer with international reputation has been part of Billy Cobham group and is also producer for live jazz at Swedish Radio.

Göran Kroon is one of Swedens most soughtafter drummers. He has performed with soloists like Maria Schneider and Bob Mintzer to name a few.

Joona Toivanen from Finland is a young talneted piano player who has recorded CDs for Blue Note label with his own trio.
