Andes Fusion

Andes Fusion

A blend of traditional and contemporary South American sounds fusing the old country and the new generation of Andean music.

All of the artists in Andes Fusion are accomplished musicians in their own right. The blending of the rhythms and sounds from their varying countries of Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia make for a lovely and unique sound belonging to them alone.

The mix of the traditional music that is played and the "new age" sounds are delightful to all who hear them perform. The group has many wonderful credits to their name. They have played for the former First Lady Hillary Clinton, and they have also performed for the United Nations "Earth Day". Andes Fusion had the privilege to play with Simon and Garfunkel in New York City as well as recording and performing for various television commercials that sought to incorporate their melodious sounds into their marketing campaigns. The band was invited to be an official group to perform at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, and while touring in Central America, the founder and leader of the band, Juan L. Castillo, was commissioned to work with the Ministry of Culture in Guatamala. Also while in South America, they performed with the group "Tierra y Pueblo" and were chosen to represent their state in the prestigious "Victor Jara" Festival where they shared the stage with renown South America groups "Inti Illimani" and "Illapu".

More recently, Andes Fusion has won the coveted award know as the "MUNY" - the Musicians Under New York award for their performances. They have also performed at famous record artists' Ashford and Simpson's SUGAR BAR in NYC, and were chosen by Berklee School of Music in Boston to perform at their Alumni Showcase also in NYC.
