Andre Orlando

Andre Orlando is a singer/songwriter from the beautiful island of Barbados. His music, which can be summarily labeled as island pop, is an eclectic mix of vibrant pop tunes, breezy reggae and soul-stirring ballads strung together with Caribbean flavor. The lyrics he writes weave intricate and compelling stories about the ups and downs of life and love.  His goal as an artiste is to create music that gives voice to the many emotions that colour the human experience.

                Although realizing a natural talent for singing from as early as age five, it was in his late teens, when André first picked up the guitar, that he started writing songs as well. At age seventeen, he participated in the Richard Stoute Teen Talent contest and it was there that the pieces of the puzzle started to fall in to place. In his own words, “That experience made me made me realize that making music is what I was meant to do with my life.”

 From then on, he set to work honing his musical abilities, receiving vocal training from local soul artistes Kelly Cadogan and Marisa Lindsay as well as learning to play both the guitar and piano. In 2015 he released his debut single Lemonade digitally, receiving online airplay on SKEMPI.com (an online streaming service for Caribbean music) and debuted it on stage at the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts.  In both 2016 and 2017 he again participated in NIFCA, and was awarded a bronze medal for his original song “Do it For Love”.

                Determined to live a life filled with music Andre has embarked on a journey that while not being the easiest of paths, has taken him to many interesting places.  Besides performing at weddings and other special events he has also begun writing songs for other artistes with a view to releasing as much positive and uplifting music as possible. Now, with the imminent release of his new single “Soldier of the Heart” he stands ready to share this musical journey with the rest of the world.
