Bio

After three arduous bouts with cancer, Andrea Coller still only writes love songs.

"I don't ask why the songs come, they just do," she says, "And thank God for that, really... I mean, does anyone want to hear, 'So the nurse came in, changed my IV, and Montel Williams, was on the TV, la la la la?' Yeah. I don't think so."

In between chemotherapy, radiation, and stem cell transplantation, Andrea Coller has released two albums. In 2004, PACE (Pioneer Arts Center of Easthampton) put up the time and space for Andrea to record her first album, "Live at PACE." Having volunteered at PACE from early on in the theater's life, and having hosted the weekly open mic since April 2003, it seemed that it was meant to be. "You might say she is the blood that flows through [PACE's] vessels," says theater director David Fried Oppenheim. "Her talent as a songwriter and performer might only be surpassed by the energy and life that she brings to the organization."

In 2006, Andrea once again turned to PACE to record an album. The six tracks on her EP, "Undone," are an appetizer, of sorts, for fans who are awaiting Andrea's first studio album, which is currently in production.

Also, famous people like Andrea Coller. Andrea appears as a guest vocalist on The Nields' 2000 album "If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now." She has shared the stage with The Nields, The Kennedys, and Edie Carey. And one time, Andrea met Joan Jett. Andrea stood there dumbly until Joan grabbed her hand and shook it. It was cool.

Andrea is currently recording a full-length album with Ethan Baird (Christopher Williams, Chris O'Brien), which is set to be released in late 2007.

She promises to keep the cancer at bay and the love songs coming.
