Bio
Hailing originally from the Bronx, New York ... and currently a resident of Greenwich, CT, ANDREA DAWN was hired by her first band at the age of 12. Since then, her largest audience has been 45,000 people as she sings the national anthem for the NY Mets at Shea, along with all the teams they host, and the NY Knicks at Madison Square Garden, along with NY Liberty (WNBA!) One of the most profound experiences I had over the last few years is forgetting what the audience and my listener's will or won't like - and just writing tunes that I am happy with ... Once I did that, and also forgot about "fame and fortune" .. ironically, my career really began moving. I suppose I was ready to be true to self. And it makes all the difference. My lyrics are hardly if ever contrived - I like to say things in an unpredicatable way, always keeping people guessing. And, in terms of performance, starting at such an early age - I feel at home on the stage, as I do at home plate! One thing I will add is that I firmly believe that I am only as good as the musician's who are backing me - and for this lucky performer, I have a stellar team. Jerry Marotta (Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco, Peter Gabriel) Mike Visceglia (Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crowe, Dar Williams) Pete Levin (Annie Lennox, Tony Levin Band) & Marc Copley on guitar, along with Ben Butler ... these cats are fluid!
