Bio

The release of Andrea's debut CD entitled "I Want More Of You", has a message for every listener. The CD is relevant, creative, upbeat, inspirational and cross-generational. The sweet ballads and upbeat tunes were mixed and mastered by Grant W Nicholas at G Nick Studio-North Hollywood, CA; who has done production for Jimmy jam& Terry Lewis, Yolanda Adams, Ne-yo and also Musical Director for Brownstone, Mya and Immature.

Andrea Holdclaw is a vocalist extraordinaire who was born in New Rochelle, New York, but raised in Baltimore, Maryland by her grandparents. It was there at the tender age of 6 that she began to sing on the children's choir. She studied at the Baltimore School for the Arts where she was affectionately known as the "Little Girl with the Big Voice". Andrea was a student at Morgan State University where she received a full Music Scholarship and was appointed as one of the lead vocalists of the renowned Morgan State University Choir under the direction of the late great Dr. Nathan Carter.

Andrea is a writer, vocal arranger and co-producer. She sings at weddings, funerals, conferences and various community, as well as, church engagements. In the early 1990's, Andrea was a four-time winner of the world famous Apollo Theater Amateur Night competition. Her performance at the Apollo has been documented in the Washington Post. She also has been featured as the lead vocalist on the Basement Boys' single "Don't Blame Me" which hit the Billboard Charts in London in 1990. Billboard Magazine has also made reference to Andrea's extraordinary vocal talent as depicted on this hit single.

She has functioned as Psalmist encouraging the anointing prior to the ministry of the spoken word and word in song for noted speakers such as Pastor Jamal Bryant, Dr. Creflo A. Dollar, Bishop Clarence E. McClendon and Bishop Brian Keith Williams, as well as, world-renowned artists Isaac Carree, Vickie Winans, Richard Smallwood, and Pastor Cheryl Frazier, Shirley Murdock, she also opened up for acts such as Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, and Jomanda just to name a few. In 2009, Andrea sang for the First Ladies Awards Brunch and Fashion Show which was hosted by Radio One's Shelia Stewart and Jeannie Jones. The event acknowledged notable women who made advances in community service, philanthropy, education and more. Furthermore, Andrea sang at the 2010 world famous African American Heritage Festival on the same stage as Donnie McClurkin. In 2011, Andrea sang at the African American Heritage Festival on the same stage as Chrisette Michelle. In addition, in April 2011, she was chosen as one of the first round contestants on Simon Cowell's The X Factor America, singing competition.

Andrea has been compared to legendary greats such as Patti Labelle, Phyllis Hyman, Tina Turner and Stephanie Mills and current Diva's Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson. Andrea believes that her music. with it's original tracks and her angelic crooning, will make people dance, cry and experience joy.
