Bio

Soulful…Sensual…Rich…Powerful…
That is the only way to describe the phenomenal voice of Chicago-born singer and songwriter, Andrea Love. Influenced by her Gospel roots from the church, with added Jazz and R&B overtones, and a vocal range just over five octaves - she is undeniably a musical force to be reckoned with.

She’s worked with some of music’s most elite, including Michael Manson, George Duke, E Smoove, Ledisi, Chante Moore, M-Doc, Terri Lyne Carrington, Darius Brooks, Terisa Griffin, Typhanie Monique and Celeda; she’s also noted as being one of the most sought after recording session vocalists, even having credits that include additional background vocals for remixes of Mariah Carey’s “Through the Rain”, and Whitney Houston’s “Try It On My Own”, both produced by Grammy Winner Maurice Joshua.

Andrea comes from a musical background - her mother is a former singer, choir director, and piano player for a church in Autaugaville, Alabama; her late father wasn’t really a singer, but he had such a passion for Jazz - he could actually scat better than most Jazz singers.

When reflecting on her first solo in church at age seven, Andrea remembers being so excited - and not one ounce of nervousness. “I just wanted to sound like Shirley Caesar on "Sweeping Through the City" - that recording had so much energy, different from any other Gospel music I had heard before. People came to me afterwards and told me I did a great job, and at that point, I knew I had the potential to make it as a singer.”

In the early nineties, Andrea was given the chance to do lead vocals for her church choir’s live CDs, the Grammy- nominated Tyrone Block and the Christ Tabernacle Combined Choirs, under the Pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Milton Brunson. This opportunity opened doors for her to sing with other great Gospel artists, including Albertina Walker, Shirley Caesar, Tyrone Block & LSD, Bryant Jones & Chosen, Just Friends, Visions: A Choral Ministry, Allen & Allen, and Gospel/Jazz group Masque, to which she contributed lead and background vocals to their 1999 debut CD entitled “Thank You,” which received a Gospel Stellar Award nomination.

Though Gospel music has been her main source of inspiration, Andrea explored other music genres based on an ever-growing influence from artists like Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald just to name a few. As a result, she soon began singing with local Jazz and R&B bands in some of Chicago’s hottest live music night spots.

2001 was a major turning point for Andrea, as she began working with Grammy nominated remix producer E Smoove, who, when asked about working with her says, "Andrea is a phenomenal talent and her passion for music is unmatched. I believe our musical connection was sent from heaven". Their meeting resulted in a funky Inspirational House track entitled “Shined On Me” (Praise Cats f/ Andrea Love - Subliminal Records), which has been her biggest international hit to date.

Often being at the top of most major European Dance Music charts, it gained two nominations for the 2002 Italian Dance Music Awards, including Best New Dance Artist and Song of the Year. The success of the song also allowed her to perform throughout Europe, including special television appearances on the legendary music show “Hit Machine” in France, and the annual “Festival Bar” in Italy, where she was listed on the same bill with Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch and Shakira.

Now Andrea is back with a vengeance with some of the hottest Dance tracks guaranteed to make you sweat on the dance floor, including “Heat You Up, Melt You Down” (RedSoul - Playmore Music – U.K.); “Body and Soul “ (Kings Of Groove - Spain), and “Can’t Live Without Your Groove” (Sergio D’Angelo -Time Rec. – Italy), all of which are currently receiving rave reviews and making noise on various Dance charts and DJ playlists.

Andrea is also writing and recording tracks to be heard on her upcoming solo project that will be released in the fall of 2009, showcasing her vocal ability as a Soul, R&B and Acid Jazz artist, while holding true to her Dance roots. Upcoming Dance tracks include “To the Sky” produced by Sergio D’Angelo (to be released on Time Rec., Italy), as well was projects with world renown DJ/Producers CZR and Malik from the Outhere Bros., and you can also get ready for another highly-anticipated, uplifting hit from the Praise Cats.

On music and her career, Andrea says, “My love affair with music is something that's hard to put into words. There’s a high that I get when I sing, whether I'm on stage dressed up or standing barefoot in my living room. It’s is a euphoric, sensual feeling that makes me invincible, and that feeling has become my addiction! I feel so blessed that I've been chosen to embody the gift of song, and this is only the beginning for me - there is so much more to
