Andréa Miller with the Terrordactyls!

Born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania, Andréa Miller had been performing as a singer-songwriter for several years before deciding to base herself out of Greenville, SC in late 2005. It was there that her musical style began to truly develop as her already bluesy take on Appalachia met with the raw sound of the Carolinas' Piedmont blues, providing a unique twist to her song-writing approach. Her lyrics conjure both images of the secluded coal-mining region she grew up in and the South that she has chosen to make her home, while introducing sometimes jarring and vivid juxtapositions. However, her sound took on an entirely new dimension as she began working with producer Carter Butler on her first full-length album, Evergreen. The introduction of horns and upbeat arrangements created a newer and fuller sound reminiscent of Tin Pan Alley and Motown, relying heavily on stylings of the more recent genre of the melodramatic popular song. It was then that Miller was introduced to her future band members Brian Loos and Christophe Nölff. Loos, who provided all of the trumpet work on Evergreen, eagerly capitalized on his talent as a multi-instrumentalist and jumped on board as drummer in the new project, with Nölff and Kevin MacIntosh following closely behind. Andréa Miller with the Terrordactyls! utilizes the multiple and varied talents of each member, creating an energetic and dynamic live sound. Their shows, based largely out of Greenville and the surrounding Upstate South Carolina area, are sure to put a smile on your face and keep the catchy hooks fresh in your mind long after you leave.
