I am a non-performing ex-Label Mgr, now Songwriter on a mission. I currently own and run an online music company I am SO proud of called SONGSINC which offers the most incredible way for Songwriters create new songs called TrackWriting, and allows the writers to keep 100% of their Publishing!

Biography

As a kid, I was in constant motion. Climbing trees, playing basketball, baseball, football, riding horses, jumping on the trampoline, diving, body surfing…I simply couldn’t get enough. But one day I learned 3 chords on a guitar and found all that energy focused on writing a song. I’m still focused.

My passion for sports is still there. I coached softball for over 25 years for High School, College and Nationals. I hoped to be as much a teacher as a coach, sharing my philosophy if you do what you love adding the power of faith, desire, and hard work, the outcome will always be what it should be. That doesn’t mean you’ll always win the game, but you’ll definitely play it well. And for me, that is success.

So it has been with songwriting and my journey with it. From creating the first ever musical greeting cards (MusiCard) - to writing the Pyramid money scheme theme (“Pyramid Rock”) and then “Hands Across America”. I worked for Warner Bros. Records for over 27 year, and I now own and operation a GREAT Songwriter site called SONGSINC.

For the past few years, Nashville has been my developing ground. I’ve written with great writers, produced demos using great musicians, producers and singers in amazing studios. I’ve walked Music Row pitching, having songs picked up, others criticized. In one door and out another - listening, watching, and learning. And yet, I come back to what I know: In doing what I love with faith, desire, and hard work, the outcome always is what it should be.

Half-Hearted Moon

Written By: Andrea Standley

Half-Hearted Moon

I knew you would be leaving, it was a matter of time
When you would find a reason, to break this heart of mine
I let you say you love me, for a moment it was true
‘though I knew you said “forever” ‘neath a half-hearted moon.

When a body becomes thirsty, the mind will sometimes see
Water in the distance, where it could never be
When a lonely heart is hungry, it often plays the fool
And dreams about the other side of a half-hearted moon

But I’d never trade the feeling
For a moment of the truth
And I’ll never spend a single day
Regretting loving you

I let you say you love me, it’s not hard to understand
It only takes believing, to find water in the sand

Instrumental

No, I’ll never trade the feeling
For a moment of the truth
And I’ll never spend a single day
Regretting loving you

I let you say you love me, knowing now would come too soon
For anyone who falls in love ‘neath a half-hearted moon…
For anyone who fall in love, ‘neath a half-hearted moon.

Don't Tell Me

Written By: Andrea Standley

DON’T TELL ME

I’ve got nothin’ but time
Time ain’t nothing but space
Space ain’t nothing but an empty room
Without a hiding place

You’ve got nothin’ but lies
Lies ain’t nothing but air
Air ain’t nothing but a breath away
From suffocating somewhere

So don’t tell me you won’t see her anymore…

Did you think I was a numb
Did you think me a fool
Did you think that I would never catch on
To the slight of hand you do

Did you keep me from her
Like you kept her from me
I got nothin’ but time and space
And the air that we both breathe

So don’t tell me you won’t see her anymore…

Don’t say anything…don’t say anything…
Don’t say anything at all…

Instrumental

Don’t say anything…don’t say anything…
Don’t tell me you won’t see her…

You’ve got nothin’ but lies
Lies ain’t nothing but air
Air ain’t nothing but a breath away
From suffocating somewhere

So don’t tell me you won’t see her anymore…

Firestorm

Written By: Andrea Standley

Firestorm

You think you beat me
you think you won
but this isn’t over, its just begun

You pushed on past it
you crossed that line
walkin’ right through yours and into mine

Foolish girl, your arrogance
May have taken you to center stage
but It’s completely evident
you’ve never seen my rage

It’s a firestorm…
gonna burn you to the ground
A firestorm…
Gonna melt your cold heart down

If I were you I’d start to run
Don’t go sayin’ you were never warned…
Of the firestorm

You couldn’t leave it
You didn’t care
It was another chance to charge the air

And for a second
just a flash
you had him in your sights
you had him in your grasp

Foolish girl, you arrogance
may have taken you to center stage
but you forgot the consequence
of dealing with my rage

It’s a firestorm…
gonna burn you to the ground
A firestorm…
Gonna melt your cold heart down

If I were you I’d start to run
You’re gonna wish that you were never born…
It’s a firestorm

INSTRUMENTAL TO:

If I were you I’d start to run
You’re gonna wish that you were never born…
It’s a firestorm…

Kiss It

Written By: Tim Koerber & Andrea Standley

Kiss It

You left your coat behind
Were you in such a hurry
You couldn’t stop to say good-bye
But you won’t see me worry
You’ll come running to me,.. Soon enough
“N” begging how you miss it
Just hanging with your boys again
But baby you can kiss it

Kiss it all,…Good bye
You’re just another player,.Working me
Kiss it all,...Good bye
Take it somewhere else, but you’re gonna see
You had a chance
And, Oh you blew it
All wrapped up
In what you were doing
Now this well of love’s run dry
You can kiss it,….Kiss it all
Good Bye

There was a time I trusted
Everything little thing you said
I’d turn around and there you were
Taking us to the edge
When we were together, Out somewhere
You never could resist it
You couldn’t keep your eyes on me
As sure as God’s my witness…so…

Kiss it all,…Good bye
You’re just another player,.Working me
Kiss it all,...Good bye
Take it somewhere else, but you’re gonna see
You had a chance
And, Oh you blew it
All wrapped up
In what you were doing
Now this well of love’s run dry
You can kiss it,….Kiss it all
Good Bye

Instrumental

When you push too hard, you get pushed back
When you break a promise, it’s more than that
If you need a reason, I can give you two
I’m not your part-time, naïve fool!

Kiss it all,…Good bye
You’re just another player,.Working me
Kiss it all,...Good bye
Take it somewhere else, but you’re gonna see
You had a chance
And, Oh you blew it
All wrapped up
In what you were doing
Now this well of love’s run dry
You can kiss it,….Kiss it all
Good Bye

Don't Worry, I Know

Written By: Andrea Standley

Don’t Worry, I Know

He comes to tell us she’s not doing well
He wishes he had better news to tell
And others in the room, cry that it’s too soon for her to go.
But I know better, mama
Don’t worry, I know.

I take the long walk down the corridor
Enter her room and gently close the door
The fragile face I see, brings memories to me of long ago
Do you remember, mama?
Don’t worry, I know.

I know all the times that you were always there for me
And I remember you with pretty auburn hair
Patchin’ up my feelings with love I could believe in
Reminding me to say my evening prayers.

He comes to tell me I should say goodnight
I kiss her forehead and turn out the light
She reaches for my hand…do I understand she’s not alone?
I know better, mama
Don’t worry, I know

Instrumental to:

Patchin’ up my feelings with love I could believe in
Tonight I’m going to say my evening prayers…

So close your eyes now mama, go to sleep
You’ve given all you need to give to me
In my heart I know there are no goodbyes so I can let you go
I love you mama…
Don’t worry, I know

This Country Life

Written By: Andrea Standley

THIS COUNTRY LIFE

There’s a shooting star about to run across the evening sky
And I’m ready with the wish I’m gonna make when I see it fly

Oh I love, yes I do….I love this Country Life !

There is nothing like the Blue Ridge as it rises with the mornin’ sun
Or the smell of the bacon cookin’, honey is it done?

Oh I love…I love this Country Life !

Gonna write a book about it
Climb aboard that tree and shout it
No, there aint no way to doubt this Country Life.

Instrumental

Gonna write a book about it
Climb aboard that tree and shout it
No, there aint no way to doubt this Country Life

There’s a shooting star that’s moving fast across the evening sky
And I made me that wish I had as I watched it fly !

Yeh, I love…Oh I love…I love this Country Life !
Yeh, I love…Oh I love…I love this Country Life !

(There’s a shooting star about to run across the evening sky)
(And I’m ready with the wish I’m gonna make when I see it fly)

We Cry

Written By: Andrea Standley

Maybe in time, forgiveness
maybe on another day
we'll understand and put the sword away

Beneath this ground we stand on
I lay him down to rest
while this heart of mine still beats within my chest

and we cry....cry....
we cry.....and say goodbye

Instrumental

Maybe in time, we'll see it
we'll use the common thread
to close the wounds and learn to love instead

'Til then we cry....cry...
We cry...and say goodbye...
Oh, we cry.

Daddy's Golden Rule

Written By: Andrea Standley & Tim Koerber

Daddy’s Golden Rule

My daddy woke each day at four, so he could work the farm
My mom got up an hour before, to serve his breakfast warm
And about the time the bus came by to take us kids to school
Mama made us all recite daddy’s Golden Rule

Tip your hat to strangers, boys
But don’t be fooled by none
If you cheat or lie today
Your soul will come undone
But if you do the best you can
Then hold your heads up high
There ain’t no better than your best
And less won’t get you by

One by one we left the farm, and struck out on our own
But all us boys, we settled down, not too far from home
It seems the one thing we all did, as our families grew
Was teach our kids how to live by daddy’s Golden Rule

Tip your hat to strangers, kids,
But don’t be fooled by none
If you cheat or lie today
Your soul will come undone
But if you do the best you can
Then hold your heads up high
There ain’t no better than your best
And less won’t get you by

Sometimes it ain’t so easy…what’s right is hard to do
But I know I’m a better man…for daddy’s Golden Rule

Instrumental

The sun was just about to rise the day my daddy died
And mom woke up an hour before, but stayed there by his side
Everyone who paid respects, asked what they could do…
We all said “just try to live by daddy’s Golden Rule”

He tipped his hat to strangers
But wasn’t fooled by none
He always spoke the truth
And never cheated anyone
He just did the best he could
And held his head up high
Said “nothin’s better than your best
And less won’t get you by”
