ANDRE COMEAU BAND

ANDRE COMEAU BAND

BandFolkAcoustic

Fun, acoustic, indie-folk/bluegrass/pop, with M/F vocals. Fun, fun, fun...

Biography

The ANDRE COMEAU BAND provides a true alternative to the mundane trappings of modern music: musicianship, spontaneity---timeless music and lyrics that stick in the brain long after the set is over. The year 2006 finds Comeau returning as a solo artist with a renewed purity of vision. "The band-and the sound---is stripped-down. Something simple, yet mature. Traditional instrumentation on every track: acoustic guitars, mandolin, lap-steel, banjo, and harmonica... I wanted to create an organic, warm atmosphere. Luckily, I have great friends who are also fantastic musicians, and they help make all this possible." Those friends include Producer and engineer Jon Mesh on mandolin, Randy Morris on bass, and vocalist Sabrina Taylor, whose sophisticated vocals allow the group to recreate the intricate harmonies that have become the signature of an Andre Comeau song. Toeing the line between classic and cutting edge, The ANDRE COMEAU BAND are purveyors of passionate, genuine music that rings true to the mind-as well as the ear-of the discerning listener. ---by Daniel Borden

The Alchemy

Written By: A. Comeau (c) 2006

The Alchemy

You say you love me so I wonder
Where eagles dare to go, the light within your glow
God’s most definite blunder
I plant the seed to grow;
it's gone to seed I need to know
I’ve got a mountain front of me
But I’m on my way to you
And together, you and me, the alchemy is pure energy
This love is louder than thunder
Rain begins to pour sky lets out a roar
God bless this spell that I’m under
Storm breaks upon shore and shocks me to the core
I’ve got a mountain front of me
And I’m on my way to you
Together, you and me, the alchemy, pure energy
I’ve been up for days, been counting cosmic rays
See you in every one
Beams of light bending time-space is warping
What a sight, so bright,
Your inner light outshines the sun

Flimflam

Written By: A. Comeau (c) 2006

Whoops! I’m just a flimflam,
Always just another sham
Sometimes I don’t know why you gave a damn
Jig is up I’m mixed up
I’m wrong you’re right I’m fucking up
I don’t know how you never had enough
The little that I’ve really got to lose
What else would you think I’ve got to prove?
I’m just flimflam
I’ve forgotten who I am
I’d rather give up than to give a damn.
It’s always that I been this crass
I’m sorry I ain’t got no class
I don’t know how you never thought to ask
Money spent low rent
So kinky that I might be bent
No telling where my money really went
The little that I’ve really got to lose
What else did you think you got to prove?
I’m just flimflam
I’ve forgotten who I am
I’d rather give up than to give a damn.

Half Right

Written By: A. Comeau (c) 2006

A buck too short, just out of range I’m either early or just too late
Won’t be ignored; I’ve got to change my luck but not my fate
I’m not the sort of person with the patience enough to wait
My day in court it never came, got sentenced before the date
Wrote in stone broken bone much too fast it was cast
Set the tone, didn’t know but you said it would not last
Living for the moment not dwelling on the past
So hard to get the good news out but the bad news travels fast
Tell me how I can get through to you tonight
Help me out because I cannot see the light
I’m not brilliant but I’m bright
I hope I’m more than just half-right
Danced around a hat, might of said all there was to say
Yeah we chewed the fat but it don’t matter anyway
More ways that we skin the cat the less we have today
The promises I made to you I keep still today
Look out now it’s just so clear with the writing on the wall
Done and how, have no fear and shed no tears over spilled alcohol
Biggest ones always take the hardest fall
She’ll come back to my shotgun shack Its what she wants now after all
Tell me how I can get through to you tonight
Help me out because I cannot see the light
I’m not brilliant but I’m bright
I hope I’m more than just half-right
¬I confess I made a mess I never did my best
Failed the test got put to rest will the questions ever end…
One more thing to say to you walking out the door
Certain sting in starting new, not like it was before
Me and you, tea for two, spoils of the war
Oliver Twist unclenched his fist, held his hand out and asked for more
Tell me how I can get through to you tonight
Help me out because I cannot see the light
The more I think about it the less you’re in my sight
Seriously doubt me and I’m staying up all night
I’m not brilliant but bright
I hope I’m more than just half-right
