"Andre Delano with Tom Braxton under the stars on August 12, 2011"

The INFINITI Summer Concert Series presented by ROLEX South Coast Plaza at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach presents enchanting saxophonist Andre Delano with special guest Tom Braxton on Friday, August 12.
Noted for his energetic and dynamic performances, Delano is one of the hottest new singers, saxophonists, writers, and producers to hit the music scene. His diverse smooth jazz mixture features a captivating sensual undertone. Delano has opened for some of the biggest names in jazz including Mindi Abair, Boney James, Norman Brown, Peabo Bryson, Peter White, Rick Braun, and Kenny G; and he has performed with numerous famed musicians including Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, and Bunky Green, among others. Most recently he released a new single this past April: “S’posed to Be” with a “PopJazz” sound, and finished a three year stint as the touring saxophonist and background vocalist for Lionel Richie.
Performing as a special guest with Delano, is gifted saxophonist and music producer, Tom Braxton. Braxton has his own distinctive and recognizable sound weaving together jazz, latin, funk and R&B. Braxton toured extensively with Wayman Tisdale for 17 years, and served as Musical Director for Tisdale for ten of those years. He has shared the stage with many well-known artists including Dave Koz, Rick Braun, Peter White, Earl Klugh, George Duke, Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, Jeff Golub, Marcus Miller, Keiko Matsui, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross and Phillip Bailey; and has opened concerts for numerous jazz greats including Norman Brown, Boney James, Najee, Dave Brubeck, Cab Calloway, Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons, David Benoit, Pieces of a Dream, Michael Franks and The Crusaders. Celebrating 20 years as the longest running music series in California, and recognized for bringing revered musicians to southern California every year, this premier series runs through September 30 at Hyatt’s intimate outdoor amphitheater.

"ANDRE DELANO WITH SPECIAL GUEST TOM BRAXTON TO PERFORM AT INFINITI SUMMER CONCERT SERIES"

The Hyatt Regency Concert Series is billed as the longest running jazz series in the country. As such, you can expect to see a parade of smooth jazz greats every Friday night at 8pm from June 24 through September 30th.

I am particularly excited about seeing two phenomenal saxophonists, Andre Delano and Tom Braxton August 12th. For many of us, our leisure time is spent traveling from festival to festival or concert to concert and we see the same artists over and over again playing the exact same set list with the same scripted "filler" dialogue. Therefore, having the opportunity to see some fresh faces with fresh music in one of my favorite venues is a huge plus! Andre Delano and Tom Braxton may not be household names but they should be as both are veteran musicians and performers.

"This Week Andre Delano, Euge Groove and More"

SOURCE: ST. LOUIS JAZZ NOTES BY DEAN MINDERMAN,

Published: 2010-08-20
With many summer concert series having run their course, and the fall presenting season yet to get underway, it's a relatively light week for live jazz in St. Louis.

All the more reason, then, to turn out for saxophonist, vocalist, and East St. Louis native Andre Delano (pictured). who's back home to perform Friday night on a bill with Euge Groove at The Pageant. For more about Delano and some video clips of him in action, see this post. For some video footage of Groove in concert, check out this post.

Elsewhere around town, Robbie's House of Jazz has vocalist Crystal Haywood on Friday and its house band, the Robert Edwards Ensemble, on Saturday.

BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups will feature Good 4 the Soul for the early set on Sunday night, and then on Monday, the Sessions Big Band returns to the BB's stage after a summer hiatus.

"Andre Delano Full Circle"

Saxophonist Andre Delano Roberson has played with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Maxwell, and Jeff Lorber, and he steps out as a leader on his debut album Full Circle (7th Note). Roberson, who goes simply by Andre Delano, has a sound that tips its hat to David Sanborn, and Full Circle is filled with enjoyable, if not especially groundbreaking, tunes that will surely appeal to smooth-jazz fans. Delano is simultaneously sinuous and funky on the party tune "Funkborne," and he gives "Foot Steps" a bit of a dark edge. Keyboardist Kevin Toney makes a guest appearance on "Why Not," with his delicate piano accompaniment and shimmering Rhodes provide contrast to Delano's snappy sax, while the catchy but not particularly special "Face Off" is enhanced by a nice solo by guitarist Dwight Sills. Delano clearly has a lot to offer musically, but the tracks on Full Circle tend to be safe, standard smooth-jazz fare. Delano would benefit from more adventurous material that would better showcase his naturally engaging style.

"Saxophonist Andre Delano Preparing to Melt Hearts at Thursday Night Vibe"

The amazing and versatile saxophonist Andre Delano is gearing up for his performance for this week’s Thursday Night Vibe at Marbella. He stopped by The WAVE studios to visit with his good friend Pat for a very entertaining interview about his start in music.

Listen to the full interview with Andre and catch a sneak peek of his new single “S’posed To Be” with a behind the scenes video of the recording process!

Andre Delano’s interested in music peaked at the very young age of eight when he begged his mother to buy him a saxophone. He wanted to follow in his cousin’s footsteps, because every time he played the sax for his girlfriend, she would melt, and Andre wanted to have the same “powerful effect” on the ladies.

His interest became full-fledged talent over years of practicing and learning from the incredible music program at Lincoln High School in St. Louis, which was the same school Miles Davis attended. As a result, he honed his talents and ended up receiving a full scholarship to college.

He’s since went on to becoming a new breakout artist who’s turned his dream of melting ladies’ hearts into reality while performing on stage with Maxwell…and let’s just say, there wasn’t a shortage of women’s panties flying up on stage.

This talented musician and singer has opened for some of the biggest names in jazz including Mindi Abair, Boney James, Norman Brown, Peabo Bryson, Peter White, Rick Braun, and Kenny G.

You can have your heart melted by the smooth sounds of Andre Delano this Thursday night for The WAVE’s Thursday Night Vibe at Marbella. Listen for his new single, “S’posed To Be” to drop on April 19th, and watch a making of video of the song below! For more music, news and info on Andre, visit his official website.

Bio

Andre Delano has demonstrated his amazing ability to woo a crowd with his saxophone time and time again. His live performances are energetic and dynamic with an incredible sensual undertone that is quite surreal.

Andre began playing the saxophone when he was 8 and by the time he was 18 he had more credentials on his resume’ than your average touring musician. He received his training at East St. Louis, Illinois’ prestigious Lincoln High School, the alma mater of legendary jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, and had performed with numerous famed musicians such as: Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, and Bunky Green, among others. “Our jazz program was really incredible,” Andre says about their regimen that required practicing one hour before school and five hours after school every day. “We won every competition, including Down Beat magazine’s national competition. In my three years at Lincoln, we never lost. We were number one at everything.” That experience prepared Andre for his career as a noted saxophonist who would go on to record, perform and travel with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Maxwell, Donnie Osmond, Usher, Christina Aguilera, Bobby Womack, Jeff Lorber, Chieli Minucci, Doc Powell, and Bobby Lyle.

Andre’s solo career began with the 2005 release of “Full Circle,” that catapulted him into an instant favorite amongst smooth jazz fans everywhere. The album was a mainstay on the Smoothjazz.com charts with the singles “Night Riders” that was remixed by the Grammy® Nominated Producer, Jeff Lorber and “Foot Steps” that featured Earth, Wind and Fires‘original guitarist Al McKay. The first track “Funkborne” was licensed through the Global Hue Agency and featured in a national Diamler Chrysler Jeep commercial. The critics raved: Music Connection Magazine wrote, “Full Circle is rhythmically explosive and mega-soulful…a cool mix with a romantic chill…” The Los Angeles Times said, “Delano plays with a flair and inventiveness…. He is clearly ready for his own solo career.”

Andre followed in 2006 with a Christmas release entitled “First Christmas” that features one original song and nine Christmas cover songs including “Jingle Bells,” “O Come all Ye Faithful” and “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas” which charted on Smoothjazz.com for two consecutive years since the release. The title track “First Christmas” is a vocal song that Andre wrote and sings for his baby daughter.

In 2008 Andre released the highly anticipated CD “My So Fine.” It was a collection of 14 original songs with a mix of vocals and instrumentals that can turn any evening with a slight romantic spark into a night of hot passionate fire. The CD starts with the hot Latin flavored “Sista Caliente.” Andre teams with Arranger-Producer Sir Gant (Anita Baker, Peabo Bryson, Madonna) on the reggae induced “Once My Love.” Delano showcases his beautiful vocal skills on the title track “My So Fine” as well as “The Da Da Song,” which is very reminiscent of Motown’s Jr. Walker and the All Stars. “That Much (I Love U)” also has an old school feel that puts you in the mind of Al Green and Ronald Isley. The song that Andre calls a “lyrical vow”, “I Do,” is certain to become the next timeless wedding song.

Since 2008, Andre has been promoting his CDs via national spot dates, writing music for third projects and in 2011 ended his three year run as the touring saxophonist/background singer for Grammy® award winning singer/writer, Lionel Richie. On June 14, 2011 Andre was named LAMN Jam Urban artist of the year and received a valuable and comprehensive artist development prize. According to LAMN, Andre Delano is "the man on a mission to bring back the saxophone who blew away the judges with his soulful sax..."
Andre's new CD "Life as I see it" is set to be released in 2012…and promotions have already begun with the release of four viral singles: “S'posed to be,” “Fall-n N Love Again,” “Energy” and “S.E.X. (Sax Ecstasy eXemplified).” All have charted as #1 downloaded singles on CD Baby.com. “I am definitely going deeper to my artistry with "Life as I see it"…..very personal stuff…,” states Andre. “What a fun exploration. I hope you will join me on my excursion.”
