Bio
Award winning guitarist/composer Andre Feriante gave his first concert in Rome in 1979 and in the past two and half decades he has played in Europe, South America and though out the United States. Seattle-based Feriante is a Segovia-trained guitar artist who brings his sensual, contemporary sound to an otherwise traditional genre. His creative blend of classical, flamenco and Brazilian styles speak to people from all walks of life.
Beneath the surface of the Spanish guitar sound is a current that gives Feriantes music a certain power, Andre translates his respect and care for his fellow man easily into his music, making it a place where emotions can be released. There is a mysterious quality to his music that transports one into the realms of myth and dream. Feriante was recently interviewed on The Beat (Seattles NPR affiliate), speaking about the healing qualities of music. Andres hope is that the passionate yet meditative qualities of his songs can bring his listeners inward to see our similarities as humans and create more peace and ease in the world.
Andre brings a casual warmth to the stage and a wide variety of styles, you might hear music from Bach to Leonard Cohen, a Jazz standard, a Flamenco improvisation with poetry by Garcia Lorca or Feriantes original compositions. His musical journey has allowed him to perform counless concerts at theaters, festivals, and clubs over the years. You may have seen him playing at Seattle Hempfest or performing the National Anthem at Seattles Key Arena for a Sonics Game.
Andre Feriante was born in Naples, and studied in Madrid and Bogota Colombia. He draws on the flamenco traditions of Gypsies of Spain and Italy as well as from classical masters such as Andres Segovia, who recognized his talent and encouraged him early on. Andre had the privilege of studying with Segovia in a Madrid master class in 1983.
