Bio

Influenced by the long tradition of saxophonists in jazz, Andrei initially set out to assimilate the sound of the greats such as John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, into his violin playing. While studying at Berklee he realized that he could apply the virtuosic capabilities of the violin to jazz and improvisation, thus allowing him to go beyond the typical expectations of any horn players. This modern approach to jazz is best exemplified in his most recent compositions.

Andrei has had the privilege of studying with some of the best jazz musicians and educators in the World. Among them, George Garzone, Tiger Okoshi, Dave Santoro, and Hal Crook. Andrei has shared a stage with many legendary and up-and-coming jazz greats including Bob Moses, Tiger Okoshi, Christian Scott, Dennis Montgomery, Luques Curtis and Zaccai Curtis, James Williams and many more. At Berklee, he has been the recipient of the String Department Award and his music has been featured at a Best of Jazz Composition concert.
