There’s a reason that André Rodriguez’ new album, titled Somewhere New, is quickly grabbing the attention of music critics around the country. It’s all about the songs, convincing Weeklyindie.com to hail that, “Rodriguez is back and better than ever.” The record, which debuted on May 12th at The Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis, already boasts two song placements in the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition, three song publications with TV licensing monster Crucial Music, and the collaborative recording work of Minneapolis darlings Breanne Duren of Owl City and André’s brother, Dan Rodriguez. The project’s producer, Luke Fredrickson has worked with bands such as Mainstay of Tooth and Nail Records, Shelli Marsh of Universal/Dream Music Group, and Scarlet Haze.
After spending the last few years working as a studio musician for other artists, André was eager to release his new album. “While it’s been an absolute blessing to work with other music acts around the country, I knew it was time to get back to my roots as a writer. I’m thrilled to be sharing my own music again.”
