ANDRES LINETZKY
Andres is one of the most important tango artists of the new generation. At the young age of twenty eight he has played and arranged music for the most relevant groups and orchestras. He is the pianist of the Tango Orchestra of Buenos Aires City , to which he joined after having won a very tough contest in which almost all the pianists of the genre have taken part.
Andres has also formed part of Tangata Rea, one of the first tango groups led by young artists. With this group, he makes two extensive world tours between 1996 and 1998. During the first one, he plays in many cities of the U.S.A. including Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Denver. In the European Tour, he displays his art in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and France. It is with Tangata Rea that he records two CDs for the German company Winter & Winter. One of the CDs sells more than 8000 copies all over the world.
In 2003 he makes a very succesfull tour in France conducting the Tangovia Orchestra and the musical Danza Maligna. He play in the Chaillot National Teather along 15 days, with sold out. In that tour he play with Vale Tango, Ramiro Gallo Quintet and Carlos Corrales trio. The tour goes to the Montpellier, Perpignan and Vaison La Romaine Festival’s , sharing stage with artist like Caetano Veloso .
In 1999 and with Carlos Buono’s orchestra, he embarks on a tour all over Japan visiting over 50 cities and performing in theatres with a capacity audience for 1800 people.
He has also accompanied great tango musicians such as Enrique Baffa, Fernando Romano, Abel Cordoba, Tito Reyes, Raul Lavie, Guillermo Galve, Maria Garay, Neotango Sextet, Fernando Soler, Julio Pane, the Municipal Tango Orchestra of Avellaneda . Andres has also displayed his art in the most important ‘tango houses’ in Buenos Aires, for example ‘Señor Tango’, where he played for three years, ‘El Querandi’, ‘Esquina Carlos Gardel’ and ‘Tortoni Café’. He is the pianist for both Carlos Corrales’ trio and Ramiro Gallo’s quintet, with which he records a CD.
With his group VALETANGO he also records a CD for Winter & Winter. The group takes part in the film ‘Assassination Tango’, which was directed and starred by Robert Duvall and produced by Francis Ford Coppola. In this film the group is portrayed playing a theme composed by Linetzky and called ‘Rey de Copas’.
Apart from playing and writing music for several local groups, Andres has made arrangements for ‘El Arranque’, Alejandro Kreiman (Spain), ‘The Tango Society of Central Illinois (U.S.A.) and the Orchestra – School of Tango.
He was one of the few privileged musicians who studied with Horacio Salgan and Rodolfo Mederos. He has also graduated from two conservatories: The Municipal Institute of Music (classical music), and the School of Popular Music of Avellaneda ( jazz and Tango)
Other activities concerned with music:
As a rock musician , he wins the Buenos Aires Juvenile Tournaments in 1992, which allows him and his group to represent Avellaneda Town Hall in official presentations of renowned artists, like Alejandro Lerner, Antonio Tarragos Ross, Ignacio Copani, etc. He also takes part of several groups’ recordings.
In the jazz field, he forms part of the Trade Union Musicians’ Orchestra. He arranged and took part as instrumentalist of many formations of the genre throughout 1996.
