Local artist Andrew Delaney has put together one of the best local records this year - literally, as he plays nearly every instrument on it, including guitars, basses, harmonica, banjo, and a "trash kit." The indescribable mix of country, folk, psychobilly, Celtic and 50's croon is a perfect match for Delaney's amorphous vocals. Throughout the disc you can hear shards of Stray Cats, Hank 3, Jack Johnson, and Cat Stevens. Highlights will depend on your personal taste because there are many and they vary quite a bit, but check out "The Saint Of Cobb County," "Ramblin' Jack," "William & Sweet Mary," and "Sam's Custom Wood" for a sampling. The mix is good, but could be a little cleaner for this quality of writing. Still, there is no doubt Andrew Delaney will make some waves. - Lit Monthly - July 2009

Andrew Delaney is a classic storyteller who depicts the American landscape in a warts-and-all cinematic style. His ability to “craft creaky, wooden yarns that stir your insides” and to deliver them with “conviction” and “authenticity” (Alan Ayo – Dallas Observer) has earned him growing acclaim; Rich Warren of WFMT radio, Chicago, called him “The Alfred Hitchcock of singer/songwriters.”
Delaney's relatively short but prolific career has seen the release of 6 full-length albums, as well as a host of more minor releases. He has shared stages with the likes of Hayes Carll, Corb Lund, and Ramblin' Jack Elliot, just to name of few. He has been honored as a finalist in the prestigious Grassy Hills New Folk Competition on three separate occasions, and took a coveted main stage slot at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 2016.
On his most recent release - The Escape Artist - Andrew explores the themes of family, heroes, and human frailty with his signature intellect and eye for detail. Beyond the lyrics, Delaney pulls his music in a new direction with expanded instrumentation: horns, cellos, and mellotron step in for the banjos, mandolins, and accordion of past efforts. The Escape Artist also sees Delaney branching out into the realm of video with his directorial debut in "Howard", a short horror film made to accompany his song about weird fiction writer H.P. Lovecraft.His live band – Andrew Delaney & The Horse You Rode In On – consistently engages audiences with fun and high-energy performances that showcase the wit – and the weight – behind Delaney’s lyrics. “The Horse” features Trevor Pulver on lead guitar and lap steel; Justin Whitehead on bass; and Jeff Munn on drums.
