Bio

Andrew Austin is a young Toronto based singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist. Andrew grew up in Sarnia, Ontario. At twelve he picked up a guitar that he found in his grandparent’s basement and instantly knew what he was doing for the rest of his life.
Six months later, Andrew was portraying Paul McCartney in a popular, local Beatles tribute act selling out local theaters and festivals. When Andrew was in University, he was part of two successful university bands, Skyfish and Corduroy.
Seeking new challenges, Andrew then headed to Europe and spent two happy years traveling and busking, literally singing for his supper.
Canada called and he returned to spend the next year as musical director for 60's icon Andy Kim (“Sugar Sugar” and “Rock Me Gently”). In 2006, Andrew began recording a solo album and formed his own band. They were nominated for "Best Live Act" at the Toronto Independent Music Awards.
In 2007, acting on a dare from some friends, he auditioned for Canadian Idol and made it to the Top 16!
In 2008, Andrew's self financed EP "Just the Way I Feel" was released and charted at Campus Radio across Canada plus was named "Album of The Year" at the Toronto Magazine Awards. All this attention enabled Andrew to tour across Canada and build a following while generating positive press for his live show.
2009 was even busier. Not only did CP24 TV single him out as a recommended pick for the all important music conference, Canadian Music Week, but one of his unreleased songs, "Something About You" was picked for a coast to coast McDonald’s Television advertisement.
He also collaborated with Art of Fresh's “Slakah The Beatchild” and D.O for the song "Small Town" from D.O's sophomore album, "Stay Driven" and shot his first music video for his own song "No Flowers".
In 2010, Andrew's "No Flowers" charted at Campus Radio and was picked up nationally by the CBC. Another unreleased song, "Two (More Time) was used in a National TV advertisement for Ritz Crackers.
His song " Turn Me Over" was used in the Hit TV series "Rookie Blue" plus it has been placed in a forthcoming major studio film release set for next year. Did I mention that Andrew continues to write and play live on a regular basis?
2011 will see Andrew even busier. He now has an experienced management team behind him and the first priority will be to record his first full album that will be released to the world in the Summer of 2011. Andrew will be touring both solo and with his band to support the release and will continue to place his songs in TV and Film. If he is playing nearby, do yourself a favor and go and experience his show, you won't be disappointed.

“Austin's smooth vocals and guitar seem to effortlessly romance listeners.”
