It's almost as if Andrew Bond fell in a vat of radioactive chemicals as a young boy, giving him the ability to write incredibly catchy songs. In fact, people have said the songs this man performs using just an acoustic guitar and his own voice are so catchy that listening to them is like being infected by some wonderful brain virus.
Combining the influences of early David Bowie, the Beatles and Radiohead, Bondy (as he likes to be known) creates songs and a sound that are utterly his own. Days or weeks later you'll still be humming one of his melodies, or a chorus, which perhaps just came in fleeting contact with your brain. Luckily there are no side effects, apart from a momentary boost to your self esteem and a replenishment of your mojo.
A recent arrival on Australia's fair shores, Andrew originates from the town of Blackpool in northern England; a place where men are men, other men dress up as women, and real women frequently devour their spouses after coupling. Escaping such hazards as the long winters, a violence-laden tourist season and a job as a guitar-playing circus clown, Bondy is quickly making a name for himself on the Perth music scene.
After releasing his debut album 'Closer To The Lamplight' in 2006, Bondy spent the next few years journeying through India and south-east Asia, before travelling the length and breadth of Australia in search of new thrills and experiences. This was a time of prolific songwriting, and great leaps forward in Bondy's storytelling talents.
In June 2012 he flew back to England to launch his acclaimed new EP, 'Gilded Tunes From The Winged Horse Of Melody', and perform for the first time with his backing band, Bondy2012. Playing his songs with a full band was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream. The next month Bondy returned to Perth to officially release the EP in Australia, with an appearance on RTR FM's Homegrown show and a special birthday-themed launch party at Fat Shan's record shop. This EP is the product of three years of recording sessions in Perth and Blackpool, and each copy has been individually hand-printed and assembled with care.
Newly confirmed as a permanent resident, Bondy looks forward to becoming an internationally renowned independent artist and is surely destined for great things.
