Lyrics

TAKE SOME TIME

Written By: Andrew Dudum

You tell me what’s right
I must be wrong
I just don’t see
You figured it out where I belong
That’s just not me

I’ve gotta take some time to remind myself
Close my eyes and breathe
Figure out who I am inside
And I where I wanna be

Its not that I want to disagree
Or raise my voice
I’m trying real hard for you to see
That it’s my choice

I’ve gotta take some time to remind myself
Close my eyes and breathe
Figure out who I am inside
And I where I wanna be

I’ve gotta take some time to remind myself
Close my eyes and breathe
Figure out who I am inside
And I where I wanna be

SWEET VIRGINIA

Written By: Andrew Dudum

You were a pretty girl
I think 17 but I couldn’t really tell cause the makeup made you seem
Like you were 18, 19, or 22
You had a smile that glowed
Except for the cloud that hung over your head as you waited for the sound
Of your bus approaching at 15th and Taravel.

I knew from the moment I saw you
Your life had been crumbling down
Cause the frown on your face it showed it all
But before you place your blame
Wont you tell me your name

Just tell me your name

You had your yellow boots
A mighty mean stare
Glistening as the sunlight hit your hair
And the bus came by splashed water on your face
Well you spun around, cursed the sky
With all your might as the bus it rolled on by
As you sat right down, I could see you cry

I knew from the moment I saw you
Your life had been crumbling down
Cause the frown on your face it showed it all
But before you place your blame
Wont you tell me your name
Jump in and tell me your name
Wont you tell me your name

DON'T WANNA FIGHT

Written By: Andrew Dudum

Cause your eyes were my peace of mind
Now alone I never see them shine
Face is worn
And baby I miss you
I tried so hard to reconcile
I even bought roses to make you smile
But the thorns on the plant
Were too hard to overcome

I came on too strong I know
But the joy I felt I had to let it go
For once in my life the dream came true
Should’ve kept my cool
As I saw you stealing glances at school
But that has never been my way
Until today

I’ve loved you and your smile
Since the day we met on the fourth of July
And babe I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna cry anymore

Cause love ain’t a feeling you hold
But a deep split pain that cuts at your soul
And I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna fight anymore

Just a week till the year is gone
I can’t but tell myself I wasn’t wrong
Robe in hand, baby I miss you
Not a sigh not even a word
That conversation was never heard
I would’ve felt a little better if I know you felt the same

I came on too strong I know
But the joy I felt I had to let it go
For once in my life the dream came true
Should’ve kept my cool
As I saw you stealing glances at school
But that has never been my way
Until today

I’ve loved you and your smile
Since the day we met on the fourth of July
And babe I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna cry anymore

I should’ve known from the start
But I couldn’t tell it was you
I couldn’t see it, see it…

I’ve loved you and your smile
Since the day we met on the fourth of July
And babe I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna cry anymore

FLY WITH ME

Written By: Andrew Dudum

Loves always been a chore
Who you with what’d you do
Why your fighting for?
So I left what’s right
Learned to love and forget in a single night

Well I should’ve seen it
Living this way I was doomed baby all along
But least I expected
You’d be back to prove my theory wrong

Fly with me
Take flight with me
I should’ve known and I should’ve seen
That we were always meant to be baby

Never thought much of love
Stuck to girls that I knew stuck to girls I trust
I covered up my sleeve
Told my heart to remain not to ever leave

Well I should’ve seen it
Living this way I was doomed baby all along
But least I expected
You’d be back to prove my theory wrong

Fly with me
Take flight with me
I should’ve known and I should’ve seen
That we were always meant to be baby

CHILDREN OF THE WORLD

Written By: DUDUM

I look into your eyes and they look just like mine
That’s not the way they said it’s supposed to be
I look a little closer see what I might find
It’s funny that you look a lot like me

You and I we come from different places
Live in different corners of the world
We could be a thousand different faces
A thousand little boys and little girls
All children of the world

Now once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary/
And my eyes get teary and I wonder can you hear me?/
Can you please give me help in this time of need/
Because when someone dies we all begin to bleed/
Looking through my tired eyes and realizing all the lies/
I’m watching little kids die and then their mama’s cry/
I wonder why, it don’t really look right/
I’m having nightmares, I can’t sleep at night/
There’s people dying and starving all around/
And we don’t even help, we chose not to hear the sound/
There’s a man in a well screaming, “Help Me!”/
We claim we’re living poor but yet we’re living wealthy/
There’s murder and then poverty, life’s a wind of whirl/
I’m standing on my own, it’s just me against the world/
Despite stereotypes you’re still my real brother/
If we can’t help ourselves, how we supposed to help each other?/

You and I we come from different places
Live in different corners of the world
We could be a thousand different faces
A thousand little boys and little girls
All children of the world

Ayo I’m back again, I’m reaching out to my friends/
I’m here to save you all from being blown in the wind/
Now, why can’t we hear with our ears/
The screams are getting louder, they’re becoming more clear/
We can’t bear to look at ourselves, they need help/
But when we look into the mirror, the pain turns realer/
Because we’re not helping, I guess we are the killers/
We need to get up and do something, that’s the realest/
It’s a Dam Shame how we chose to live our lives/
We’re fighting one another tell me who will survive?/
No one will live to see if we don’t link arms/
We’re fighting in this war too bad the battle lives on/

You and I we come from different places
Live in different corners of the world
We could be a thousand different faces
A thousand little boys and little girls
All children of the world

Discography

Fly with Me was released in February 2007 when Andrew was a senior in High School. Fly with Me is a snapshot of Andrew’s life. The lyrics are very personal, and his music is sophisticated. Andrew's unique melodies and chord combinations balance the album beautifully.

Andrew plays all acoustic and electric guitar parts on his compositions, as well as cello on “Take Some Time”. The softness of his melodies is captured in “Madeleine” and “Take Some Time”.

The tracks, "Freedom” and “Sweet Virginia” have an entirely different feel as the acoustic and electric guitars drive the melody. “Church Boy”, the first song Andrew wrote, begins with a beautiful string arrangement before dropping elegantly into the first verse seasoned with guitar, bass, drums and piano. The addition of strings and piano to Andrew’s songs add texture and depth that only complement, and never diminish, the acoustic performance of his material.

Fly With Me was recorded entirely at Andrew’s home studio in San Francisco. No studio musicians, recording or mastering engineers were involved with the final CD, except for Andrew and his father who learned and worked together on this CD for an entire year. Fly With Me is released on Andrew’s family independent label, DudumRecords, Inc.
