Andrew Fruean

Andrew Fruean was one of Wellington’s brightest up and coming singer/songwriters at the beginning of last decade but surprised many by stepping away from music altogether shortly after. He has finally returned with this beautiful album, his journey during that time away is documented on this raw and honest album - which features the beautiful ‘Dying Bell’.

Andrew Fruean’s self-titled and independent debut album has just finished recording and he’s had help from some of Wellington’s finest along the way. Drummer Darren Mathiassen (Trinity Roots, Rhombus & Hollie Smith) and bassist Paul Mouncey (OdESSA) form the impressive rhythm section, as well as Tim Solly on keyboards and Andre Paris on Saxophone.

Fruean sings, plays guitar and mandolin; leading the band in these cinematic rock songs with passion and honesty. The songs were captured live at Wellington’s Island Bay Studios and produced by the widely respected Nic McGowan (Good Laika, The Volunteers, Paselode).

The album will be performed live accompanied by this brilliant line-up for the first time this summer.
