Bio

After finishing college in NYC, this Jersey Shore boy set out on a mission to make music his life. Spending months playing anywhere he could from small clubs, to open mics, and even on the street, it was clear to willing listeners that Andrew had inspiring talent. However, it wasn’t until he met The Churchills and began recording his first album that his talent was truly unleashed. Produced and recorded by The Churchills, Forgotten State Songs is a fusion of rock, pop, alternative, folk, and jazz melted into 10 brilliantly written and performed songs. While some songs play with the idea of love and infatuation, others focus on the monotony of a work, eat, and sleep routine. The album revolves around Andrews introspective longing to take his most personal thoughts and feelings and pour them out into music. At the center of his internal conflict is the struggle to escape the corporate career confinement that has been holding his real passion back. Unfulfilled and artistically frustrated, Andrew abandoned the financial stability of a corporate career to finally make his personal impression on the world of music.
Armed with his acoustic guitar, a velvet tenor voice, and a diligence only matched by his creativity, Andrews music has a casual appeal that is easily likeable and fresh. It is undeniable that Andrews vocal and songwriting capabilities mirror that of his influences. From Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, and Jackson Browne, to Rhett Miller, Ben Folds, and The Churchills, Andrew Holtz has developed a unique and eclectic musicality. Songs like Picasso and All For You express unabashedly romantic poetry, while Jazzy Song and Light and Sweet are playful takes on the 9 to 5 life. More personal songs such as Blue Ink and Curious reveal Andrews desire to follow his dreams.
-Im on a search to find something worth the time for saving
A change would do me right, that is all I've been saying.-
Andrew has made that change in 10 diverse and distinct tracks that are a vibrant and revealing self-portrait through melody, harmony, lyric, language, and emotion.
-Music is what all art aspires to- (Walter Pater). It is pureness of emotion that Andrew expresses with such an eloquent intensity that makes this album stand alone. A master poetic lyricist and earsplitting vocalist prodigy, the album is a collaborative masterpiece of euphonic resonance from instrumental genius to echoing vocal and lyric phenomena.
