"Andrew Jude"

"Hey Philly, I decided to visit Northstar Bar out in North Philly to check out this local band called "Andrew Jude". These guys were great! They really have a sound that combines a mixture of rock, pop,and a little touch bluegrass and soul.

When I sat back and listened to their nice compilation of orignial tunes, I gained a even more appreciation of their musicianship, it can be so easy to just be the regular typical cover band perfecting everyone else's tunes. These guys are able to blend both worlds with a good mix a covers and originals.

One thing that I appreciate is hearing a band that really sounds like they practice more than once a week. These guys are really on point and from what I hear they are even going to start gig-ing out in NY. So they are definetly on there way to doing big things." - shreddin.com

Bio

With the beach as his playground, Andrew Jude grew up in the small New Jersey town of Sea Isle City. Coming from a tight-knit circle of family and friends, his hometown brought great experiences and fond memories of the summertime. Jokingly, Andrew credits most of his singing ability from the acoustics of morning showers. But like all great songwriters, Andrew’s lyrics are influenced by his life experiences stemming from the passing of his best friend, lost loves, comforts, childhood memories, and coping with his obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety.
Along with music, Andrew has a passion for baseball that molded him into the man he is today. At the tender age of nine, his father brought him to his first Philadelphia Phillies baseball game at the old Veterans Stadium. After seeing the lime green AstroTurf, along with the atmosphere and camaraderie of a baseball game, Andrew was hooked on the sport. With a childhood dream to become a major leaguer, Andrew pitched his way from the little leagues to college at Philadelphia University. At that time in his college baseball career at Philly U, Andrew began to experiment with playing the guitar. This led to recollecting his own memories, and he began experimenting with lyrical writing. Open mic events soon followed where Andrew thrived on the butterfly feelings before a performance, and the intimate connection an artist makes with his audience. He felt a familiar comfort on stage, much like the comfort he found on the pitching mound. After his last pitch was thrown in college, Andrew hung up his cleats and turned toward his new passion, music, as his release.
Having played shows as a new artist around Philadelphia, New York, and the Jersey Shore, Andrew moved to Philadelphia in the summer of 2009 to work full-time and continue his music passions. Since forming his band, Andrew Jude, in 2009, the band has recorded two albums. Taking his music from classroom to the studio, Andrew’s new album, Everybody Wants A Little More, consists of ballads with a folky twang. His first album, The Cages Are Keeping Us In, was released in October 2010 with a more deliberate sound of quirkiness. In early September 2013, he released his single "Virgin Eyes" which is dedicated to all people that lost their lives from acts of evil and terrorism.
Andrew credits artists and groups like The Beatles, Matt Costa, John Lennon, Daniel Johnston, Neil Young, The Doors, Pearl Jam and Modest Mouse as influences on his sound. Andrew Jude has performed in some of the top Eastern PA, Southern NJ, and New York City venues including Philly’s hot spots: World Café Live, The North Star Bar, and The Grape Room. He has performed at the infamous Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ as well as Arlene’s Grocery and The Bitter End in NYC. The band is continuing to perform around the Northeast region and beyond as a more regional fan base begins to grow.
