Andrew Kratzat is no newcomer to the national jazz scene. The winner of the Downbeat Best Soloist Award an International Society
of Bassists Jazz Award has recorded and played with such prominent jazz artists as Hank Jones, Ari Hoenig, Terreon Gully, and Jeremy Kittel. Kratzat
is currently the regular bassist for three-time Detroit Music Award Winner Jesse Palter. While not touring and recording with her (her
new CD featuring Kratzat alongside Sean Jones, Geoff Keezer and Ron Blake, among others, is underway), Kratzat actively performs
with many artists around the world. Aside from frequent trips to New York playing venues like the Zinc Bar, Kratzat is returning to
Korea for the fourth time in March, where he is a well recognized name. This spring, Kratzat is releasing his debut solo album, "The
Dentist," under Block M records.
Andrew Kratzat is supported in tour by guitarist Tomek Miernowski and drummer David Scalia. Miernowski is an accomplished guitarist,
with performances in such venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and the Detroit International Jazz Festival. Miernowski's
spring itinerary includes the Monterey Jazz Festival with the University of Michigan Jazz Ensemble, as well as a performance of Virgil
Moorefield's "Things You Must Do to Get To Heaven" at John Zorn's club, The Stone, in Manhattan. Miernowski is also an active and
accoplished producer and engineer, having worked with such with such musicians as Robert Hurst (Diana Krall, Wayne Shorter, Herbie
Hancock) and composer and improviser Stephen Rush (Roscoe Mitchell, Steve Swell).
David Scalia is a very active drummer in the Indianapolis area, with regular concerts around the midwest. He has shared the stage with
such jazz artists as Corey Wilkes, Maurice Brown, Pablo Zeigler, and Dennis Diblasio; and has played in such venues as Carnegie Hall and
the Sienna Jazz Festival in Italy.
