Bio

2007 Bistro Award for Best Jazz Vocalist (Backstage), and CD, "Vintage Pop and the Jazz Sides" named one of Top 10 Jazz CD's of 2006 by famous NYC reviewer John Hoglund...A very exciting year!

These accolades put Andrew in the company of names such as Kurt Elling (a co-Bistro Award recipient), Chris Botti and John Pizzarelli (whose CD's were also on the top 10 list)... Artists who inspire Andrew and who have had the kind of success he is primed for.

Following an exciting four-month engagement at NYC's Metropolitan Room in Fall '06, Andrew debuted to a completely sold-out house at the Blue Note Jazz Club in January '07.

Major steps forward in 2006 set the stage for these awards and club dates - milestones such as my CD "Vintage Pop and the Jazz Sides" being picked up by an independent label, LML Music, which then led to consistently great reviews in mainstream, jazz and alternative music publications.

In 8 years time - no short road - this mid-western boy has gone from a completely green/unknown artist who moved from Chicago (where he first began singing in jazz clubs) to the Big Apple to make his music happen. His work, and the ensuing awards/recognition are allowing Andrew to play bigger venues, more frequently, and to share his music with other players and listeners who are true lovers of jazz vocals.

His shows are exciting and fun and moving. Andrew and his band swing hard, play cool and modern bossa beats, and freely mix standards with classic and modern pop songs. Everything has a jazz-tinged feel giving his shows - no matter what size the audience or venue - an intimate and electric feeling.

Influences are wide ranging:

oldies: Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Oscar Peterson
classics: Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Carol King, Burt Bacharach, Sergio Mendes
currents: David Gray, Keane, K.D. Lang...to name but a few

Andrew is ready to take his music and recordings to the world... Join him!
