"Andrew Thomas Performance"

I was fortunate to be in the audience for Andrew Thomas’ performance Friday evening. I feel fortunate because it was a remarkable experience, as I have rarely been witness to such a visceral and palpable reaction from an audience to an artist. To put it plainly, the audience absolutely ate Andrew up and loved every minute of his unique and invigorating acoustic performance. Andrew’s stage presence was top-notch, and his strength as a singer, songwriter and stage man were obvious. His skill as a guitarist, however, was what personally affected me. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of his most impressive performance was the lingering feeling within myself after leaving: a feeling of inspiration from Andrew’s music, talent, and overall message which seemed to be, “Live well.” I left thinking not only would I enjoy seeing another Andrew Thomas performance, but that I just might try a little harder to incorporate his mantra into my own living. - Jodie Gregorio, Crystal Lake South High School

"Andrew Thomas and Jake Polancich Concert Review"

"Stories", a concert performed on Friday February 17th at Augustana College, Rock Island Illinois by Andrew Thomas and Jake Polancich was one that felt more like a get together with old friends than a typical concert. Its unique form took shape because of the combination of the performers’ inviting personalities and their rich acoustic sound. For this concert, Andrew Thomas played the guitar and sang lead vocals while Jake Polancich played the drums, occasionally the guitar, and sang harmonies. Throughout its entirety, the audience was drawn into the music and allowed to journey through each song’s reflective story. The stories offered insight into their lives and experiences and allowed the audience to connect with their love, happiness, and struggles. By the end, it was an absolute certainty that there was not a single member of the audience that had not engaged themselves within the words of the music. Their authentic acoustic sound and their ability to connect with the audience showed their maturity as performers. Some of the concert’s highlights included "Prepare", "Alive", and "Traces of You". These songs all came from the second half and stuck out as some of the most provocative of the concert. They represented a step forward for the performers and showed off their many musical talents. They featured powerful harmonies, intricate guitar parts, and captivating drum beats. Overall the concert displayed Andrew and Jake’s passion for music and for storytelling through music with an eclectic variety of rhythms and songs. - Tom Geraci & Julius Gylys, Augustana College
