Bio

I’ve always found it awkward to write a bio in the third person so since we all know that I’m the one writing this and to make the process a little easier I’m just going to talk about myself all regular like.

I’ve been playing music for years and the professional section of my musical life started in 2002 when I became a part of Cape Breton Lyrics and Laughter. I sang, played guitar bass, mandolin, whistles and percussion. We played five nights a week for five weeks every summer from 2002 through to 2007. In 2007 the group recorded and released a self-titled debut that was nominated for Roots Traditional Group Recording of The Year at the 2007 East Coast Music Awards in Halifax. That same year, fellow Lyrics and Laughter member Colin Grant released his debut disc which was nominated for Roots Traditional Solo Recording of The Year at the ECMA’s I played mandolin banjo and guitar on that disc as well.

In 2008 I had finished my B.A (Maj Music Voice) at St Francis Xavier University and after being in the studio with Colin and LnL I decided that the next step for me was to go to recording school. I found myself at The Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology where I graduated with honours from their Audio Engineering program.

Over the last 2 years I’ve worked in the AV field and honed my technical skills. Finally settled back in Halifax I’ve started writing, playing and recording what will become my debut solo album.

My music is a mix of acoustic/rock/pop/ballads and probably a few genres I’m forgetting. You’ll tap your feet you’ll want to move and you’ll want to hear how it all ends. I love to play and I love to tell a tale. I’ve developed my sound into a package that can sound equally at home with a full back line as it does with an acoustic guitar and a stool. I’ve seen the world and I’ve heard its stories, and I can’t wait to tell them all to you.
