"AndrewVictoria Music Duo: Triple Threat & Triple Treat!"

Shows like American Idol, Xfactor and Karaoke Battle USA are proving there's a wealth of fabulous undiscovered singers and musicians out there. But how many of them write their own material, work the stage like they were born to it, and can sell originals to audiences who line up after a show for an autograph on a simple home-produced acoustic CD?

That's the magic of singer/songwriter duo, AndrewVictoria who have been stacking up the honors for their songwriting since March 2011 when they won "Songwriter of the Month" at SONGWRITER'S UNIVERSE for their original, "It's Not Over". A month or two later, they took out 2nd place in New York's CLASH OF THE ARTISTS songwriting division for 3 more songs.

This was followed in June by a fabulous win in their own hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, when they took home "the DEVA" and a cash prize for their gorgeous song "REPEAT YESTERDAY" in the H24 Songwriting Challenge. That contest was indeed a challenge to all who entered: contestants were given 24 hours to come up with an original song that adhered to 3 strict criteria. They then had to perform it for a live audience 24 hours later. You can read the details and see a video of the events while listening to the song itself at AndrewVictoria's YouTube site. Incidentally, AndrewVictoria also provide a link there for a FREE DOWNLOAD of this beautiful love-song, "Repeat Yesterday".

But that's not all: it's just been announced that AndrewVictoria were finalists receiving a score of 9/10 once again for the song "It's Not Over" in the worldwide and renowned UK SONGWRITING CONTEST. They also made the semi-finals with 2 others of their originals.

While it's wonderful to have a fantastic voice (and Victoria certainly has that) or to weave magic on a guitar as Andrew does so well, recognition for excellent songwriting raises an artist or in this case, a duo, to another level. These two talented artists have always lit up a stage with their performances and presence, but now they are excelling in what is possibly an even tougher arena: songwriting. They recently shared the stage at a local fundraiser with the well-known fellow Canadian singer/songwriter duo, Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet (now known as WHITEHORSE). Without a doubt, AndrewVictoria proved to all who saw and heard them that this is where they deserved to be.

AndrewVictoria were also very recently selected to perform in IMAGEFM's Indie Music Showcase Concert Series. You can watch the 4-video concert of AndrewVictoria by visiting www.imagefm.ca. The third song in the set is that award-winning "It's Not Over". Well that's for sure: it's far from over for AndrewVictoria ... a triple threat and a triple treat! - Music Industry News Network

"AndrewVictoria Gaining Singer/Songwriting Recognition"

In 2006, Canadian singer/songwriter, Victoria Boland, teamed up with Australian songwriter/guitarist and producer, Andrew Rudd. Between entertaining professionally both domestically and abroad, they wrote and produced their first 5-song EP, self-titled "AndrewVictoria" and released it in October 2010.

In a rock/blues/pop vein, the resulting songs are lyrically rich, melodically complex and beautifully arranged by Andrew. Victoria's vocals have the power, beauty and excellence of current chart-topping artist, Adele. Many more songs are already in the works and acoustic performances of both the EP and some of the upcoming originals can be viewed on AndrewVictoria's site at YouTube: http://youtube/com/andrewvictoriamusic

Promotional efforts to date have garnered this talented duo recognition from 2 different organizations. In February 2011, AndrewVictoria won "Song of the Month" at Songwriter's Universe for their song "It's Not Over". Read the full write-up at

In March 2011, AndrewVictoria were selected to perform at the upcoming "Clash of the Artists" show in Tribeca NY on May 14, 2011, when their song submissions earned them first runner up status. The judge of the "Art for Progress" contest had this to say about AndrewVictoria's songs:

"Now this is old fashioned conventional songwriting, and what's more, it's damn good. I liked "Hurry Home" but "Spontaneously Combust" wins hands down."

This is a promising start to AndrewVictoria's singer/songwriter and performing duo aspirations. Their goal is to create more award-winning songs over 2011, along with attracting the eyes and ears of music industry professionals. All 5 songs can be streamed from their website, and as mentioned above, live acoustic performances are available at www.youtube.com/andrewvictoriamusic - Music Industry News Network

"AndrewVictoria's “It's Not Over” Named March “Best Song Of The Month”"

AndrewVictoria, a promising pop/rock, singer/songwriter duo based in Hamilton, ON, Canada, has won the "Best Song Of The Month" Contest for March, for their song "It's Not Over." This song is featured on their debut self-titled EP AndrewVictoria, which they released independently in October (2010). This duo consists of Andrew Rudd & Victoria Boland.

“It's Not Over ” is a midtempo acoustic ballad, which features expressive lead & harmony vocals by Victoria, with Andrew playing all the music tracks and expertly producing the cut. A highlight of the song is its intelligent, heartfelt lyric theme, which is about having the faith to move forward in positive direction, even after suffering a setback or disappointment.

"I wrote the lyrics in 2005 when I was going through some difficult times," explained Victoria. "Then in 2009 when I was writing with Andrew, he played some music which fit the lyric perfectly, so we finished this song. Since then (for the past two years), we've been performing 'It's Not Over' in our live show."

Before they had met, Andrew & Victoria each lived in several different countries; with both residing for years in Australia. But it was in Hong Kong that they met and began working together. "I had moved to Hong Kong, and I was playing in a band (as lead guitarist & bandleader) at the Cavern Club there," recalled Andrew. "Victoria (subsequently) moved to Hong Kong and she joined the group as lead singer. We started to collaborate and we really hit it off. After our contract with the band ended, we decided to move back to Australia and formed our duo, AndrewVictoria. We've now been a duo for five-and-a-half years now.

"In addition to writing & recording their original music AndrewVictoria have made a living as professional musicians & performers. "We've had a lot of music jobs which have taken us to many countries," said Victoria. "We've played on the Holland America cruise line, and we've done many corporate bookings. For these jobs we mostly play cover music, but we do get to perform our original songs too. [Doing these jobs ] has been a good way to earn a living as musicians, and it gives us the time to write and record our own material."

With the release last October (2010) of their EP AndrewVictoria, the duo has been promoting their EP in a number of ways. "We've entered several song contests via Sonicbids and Broadjam," said Victoria. "We're also pitching our songs for film & TV and soundtracks, and we're performing more shows which focus on our own material. In addition, we're looking forward to starting a new recording project--we've written 30-40 new songs." - Dale Kawashima

*****01/12: Victoria Boland named 'VOCALIST OF THE YEAR 2011' by www.imagefm.ca!*****

No stranger to the stage, or the local & international music scene, Hamilton's Victoria Boland was a lone solo-artist working in both Canada & the USA as well as twice-touring the UK before heading to Hong Kong in late 2005 to perform 6 nights a week for the Igor's Group. It was there that Victoria met Australian Native, and now Hamilton Resident Andrew Rudd. Though neither had any intent of joining forces, or for that matter, leaving Hong Kong together as a 'duo', after over 100 shows in just 4 months & countless nights songwriting and rocking out together, the two became one and 'AndrewVictoria' was formed.

Over the next 5 years, AV traveled, co-wrote & performed everywhere & anywhere they could, earning money to put towards building their own home studio, buying equipment and honing their sound & craft as AndrewVictoria, a combination of powerful vocals and guitar-driven indie pop-rock alternative. Finally, in October 2010, AV released their self-titled E.P., featuring songs that dig deep into realistic, everyday issues, from spousal abuse in their heart-wrenching “Mary Jane” to the future of our kids, in the political out-reach song “Children”, to “Hurry Home”, a power-pop anthem that questions giving a second chance to infidelity.

Aside from proving themselves as highly-skilled & capable 'live' musicians, 2011 proved strong for the duo who have started to rack up an impressive songwriting reputation. In March 2011 AV were awarded “Best Song of the Month” by SongwriterUniverse.com for their song “It's Not Over”. Reviewed by a panel of industry experts including Jud Friedman and Dale Kawashima, AV were credited as a “promising pop/rock, singer/songwriter” duo with Andrew 'playing all the music tracks and expertly producing the cut'.

The following month brought more songwriting success after AndrewVictoria entered Arts For Progress' “Clash of the Artists 2011”. Showcasing fashion, jewelry design, visual arts and music, entrants from around the world submitted their works, including AV's “Spontaneously Combust”, “Hurry Home” and again, “It's Not Over”. The duo made it through to the finals, and after thousands of online votes, won the online-voting portion of the competition, and placed 1st Runner-Up overall for the music category. This win took them to New York City in May where they performed at the Winner's Showcase. D.L. Byron of Zen Archer Records had this to say about AndrewVictoria: "Now this is old fashioned conventional songwriting, and what's more, it's damn good. I liked "Hurry Home" but "Spontaneously Combust" wins hands down."

Continuing their climb, in June AV entered Hamilton, Ontario's H24 Competition, where they had 24 hours to write a brand new song using 3 criteria given to all competitors: A Theme, An Element, and A Lyric. At the end of the 24 hours the competitors performed their new songs live in front of a judging panel that included Canadian Idol Winner Brian Melo & renowned industry engineer Nick Blagona of Jukasa Studios. AndrewVictoria entitled their song 'Repeat Yesterday' and at the end of the night, were announced as the winners of 2011's H24 Music portion of the competition. The duo received their first physical award, a DEVA AWARD trophy as part of their win.

In September 2011, the UK Songwriting Contest 2011 named AndrewVictoria as Finalists in the Singer-Songwriter genre, with a high-score of 9/10 for once again “It's Not Over”.... and on September 18th, 2011, AV were awarded 2nd place for “Repeat Yesterday” in the Acoustic Roundtable 2011 Worldwide Singer/Songwriter Music Sea
