Bio

The name Andrid is taken from the word "Android", which is defined by its creator as “A Being who looks and functions like a human but doesn't quite fit the standard”. Andrid embodies that meaning tenfold. Though the punk rock look is gaining popularity in urban communities, it's clear to see how a few years ago this rocker could feel different from his peers.

Born and raised in a housing development in Brooklyn, New York and partially in the suburbs of Connecticut, Andrid’s sound is as night and day as his upbringing. The once troubled and overexposed teen left NYC in search of a better life with relatives in Connecticut. One year and six months later, Andrid's euphoria was cut short when his mom summoned her first born to return back to New York. Reluctantly, Andrid obeyed his mom's wishes, and re-united with her and his two siblings in the single parent household.

Once back in New York, Andrid rebelled as a result of the culture shock he suffered and the suburbia life he lost. He expressed his discontentment in a journal; hence, his musical journey began. Andrid penned original songs, took vocal lessons, worked with several producers, recorded rap hooks, duets with female singers, and performed R&B cover songs at various open mic shows.

As time went on, he had grown artistically but not enough to strike gold. Andrid became perplexed when his talent went unnoticed until an A&R rep shed some light on his dilemma. The gracious rep told the budding talent he needed a more authentic sound that defined him. "I never felt truly alive when singing R&B and I guess that's why it never worked out. Thank the stars! When I was a teen in Connecticut, a friend of mine gave me No Doubt's "Return Of Saturn" cd, I listened to it repeatedly. After my encounter with the A&R rep, I picked up the cd again and listened with a "bigger" ear. This album opened up Pandora’s box," he says chuckling.

The No Doubt cd ignited a spark in Andrid’s complex brain. Thanks to the life changing cd, he harnessed a new sound that conjures up rock, punk and pop elements seasoned with soul. Andrid’s sound is loud and brutally honest, but yet infectious enough for pop radio. "I just heard so much more from that album, to me it wasn't traditional. I heard hints of reggae, rock, soul and country all fused into this pop punk package that was unrivaled in its time. My goal is to blend MY dimensions into a cohesive project like they did," Andrid declares.

Thirty seconds into Andrid's lead single "Release My Grip" the Pop Rocker's R&B/Soul roots can be heard. Linked with a new sound, sharper pen game, and a magnetic EP, this self proclaimed "Pop Punk Prince" is quickly garnering industry buzz and a growing fan base. Not allowing himself to be deterred by dream killers or sellers, Andrid has acquired a world of knowledge and fine tuning from personal and musical experiences alike becoming the unique artist he is today.
