Last Thursday marked a new era in fashion and music in the City of Brotherly Love. MOTF (Memoirs of the Fresh) came together with hip hop/alternative music group, And The Nameless, along with Philly clothing label, Cult Classic, for an official launch party. Omar and Preston from Cult Classic held down the crowd with threads from their summer line. The goods from their summer drop completely sold out and fortunately, I was able to grab some tees myself. The duo just released their Fall line, so check out www.cultclassicgoods.com to purchase the new batch of goods. The night was capped off by a performance from And The Nameless. We at Memoirs of the Fresh have been gone for a while but, not without reason. We’ve been working on some great projects that will be displayed very soon but, we’re excited to bring something very special. We are proud to present to you the first offering from a music collective like no other “ANDtheNAMELESS” and their first single “BUT NOT OF IT” which is off of their upcoming debut EP “GREAtNESS”. ANDtheNAMELESS is a breath of fresh air to the music soundscapes of today with the talented collective consisting of Dru Chris, O. Thompson, Bets Charmelus, Matti Beresin and Joe Pointer they bring an element to hip hop that hasn’t been seen in a long time. You can listen to the single and download from their soundcloud below. Made up of Philadelphia native’s, DRU CHRIS (Lead Vocal), O. THOMPSON (Lead Guitar), BETS CHARMELUS (Bass Guitar), JOE POINTER (Drums) and MATTI BERESIN (Rhythm Guitar); ANDtheNAMELESS was founded in 2012, growing out of the childhood friendship of its members, three of whom attended Philadelphia’s Central High School. Describing their sound is a blend of influences, citing their inspiration as legendary acts Bob Marley and the Wailers, Lauryn Hill, Jimi Hendrix, The Roots, Nas, The Black Keys, Kanye West, Erykah Badu and Rick Ross; ANDtheNAMELESS has found a unique way to bring alittle of everything into one whole.
Scheduled for a March 2013 release, the concept behind their EP ‘GREAtNESS’ was inspired by the desire to pay homage to all the truly great things that surround us we tend to take for granted; unknowingly limiting ourselves from being able to clearly recognize greatness, in all of its forms.
