"2010 NEW ORLEANS SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL SONG CONTEST"

Honorable Mention - Bud Towers

"On the Road - January 2011"

I also have a new, soon to be released, CD by Andy Barham. He has been playing in the Hill Country for a while, and his CD is an eclectic compilation of songs written from his heart. Knowing Andy from experiences in my classroom at Schreiner University several years ago, I am thrilled to now hear this collection of writing and music. Many of the songs also read as good poetry. “Lay Me Down” is a rhythmic request to “Fly me up to heaven’s gate,” and “Cowgirls’ Demise” tells of a young girl who leaves her father “for the last time.” Not a sing along tune, but delivered from the heart of Andy Barham. Catch him in Austin January 15 at Flipnotics, the place I once interviewed Sara Hickman! Good place for good vibes. - Kerrville Daily Times

Bio

In the fall of 2010, Andy Barham set out to record an album joined by bassist Mark Williams to complete the instrumentation on the record. Vocalist Julia Ward came in to sing on a couple of the tracks. The recording is a 9 song album titled, "Roadrunner Deceived" and is Andy's first official release. The record hits on folk and delta blues that hit on the start/stop nature of living.

Andy Barham released the recording in August of 2011 in Austin, TX.

Most recently, "Desert Moon" came out and was recorded in Louisville, TN with Engineer/Producer Keven Ratterman at LaLa Land

BAND:

Andy Barham

Raised in San Antonio, TX moved to Louisiana at age 9 and shortly thereafter began to play guitar and rehash Zeppelin and Jethro Tull albums as best as his fingers would allow. With long hours in practice, he learned to recreate what he obsessed over: the glory of rock 'n roll hoping his future would feel the same. Growing up, North Carolina played host to Barham as a high school student attending an all boys school outside Asheville. Barham got his start playing for crowds at summer camp, much like M. Ward. Original songs started to surface. In the fall of 2007 Andy moved down to Austin, TX from North Carolina where he continues his life, and still likes to write songs.
