Andy B White

 Naperville, Illinois, USA
BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

Singer/songwriter Andy B White sings modern folk songs about love, loss, and that incessant Midwestern hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Biography

Singer-songwriter Andy B White was born and raised in rural Illinois, somewhere between corn fields and soybean farms. He now lives in suburban Chicago, surrounded by traffic and skylines. You can hear the influence of both locales in his indie folk music.

White found his musical voice during his college years, when he bought a guitar and taught himself how to play and write music. After spending three years making albums and selling out venues with a Chicago-based rock band, White set out on his own to find a new musical direction and record his first solo EP, Dirty Wings – an intimate and heartfelt collection of acoustic songs about love, loss and that incessant Midwestern hope for a brighter tomorrow.

"His lyrics and delivery are impeccable." - Michael Teach, (Chicago Acoustic Underground)

"Join Andy, and his special blend of lyrics and playing." - Keith Johnson, (Stage Left Cafe)

"Combined with an ingenious voice...White's CD is filled with songs about heartbreak and letting go." - Sophia Madana, (Live Citizen)

Lyrics

Hazel

Written By: Andy B White

Hazel, where are we going now?
I swear I saw blue skies from the windows inside your bedroom.
Game on, 'cause we need a new crowd,
and the world is waiting. Do you know what to do?

Tonight can you sleep somehow?
Tomorrow we'll open these blinds, and we'll find our own sun-drenched world...and it'll be better than these blues and birds.

Sometimes moving on means packing your bags.
Why not let the road decide for a change?
And as we drive, we'll wave goodbye to all the lights on highway 55.
I think we'll be just fine then.
I think we'll be just fine.

We won't know what lies ahead.
But don't you like that better than living here with me and this much dread?

Sometimes moving on means packing your bags.
Why not let the road decide for a change?
And as we drive, we'll wave goodbye to all the lights on highway 55.
I think we'll be just fine then.
I think we'll be just fine.

Hazel, where are we going now?
I swear I saw blue skies in your eyes.
Its in your eyes too.

Wishing Stone

Written By: Andy B White

Feet Planted, understand that I am home
Soul Scattered, if you can - its brave not bold
You ask me why I go when all the world shines, so here’s the truth you’re looking for

We are alive here
When we are alone
But I’ve realized that I am just your wishing stone

Be still here
Lay with me for one night more
I know you enough now to not be what you’re looking for

We are alive here
When we are alone
But I’ve realized that I am just your wishing stone

Under it all its not your fault
I’ve held you back for far to long

We are alive here when we are alone
But I’ve realized that I am just your wishing stone
If there’s still time here, I wouldn’t know
I’ve realized that I am just your wishing stone
[Someday you will toss me out whispering your dreams aloud]

This falling star is your wishing stone

Snow and Lies

Written By: Andy B White

Is it cold outside? I can see the ice on the windows
You know snow and lies now
Did they take their time – spare no expense for the souls to come after?
You are on my mind

Are you stronger now?
If you keep your eyes shut then you’ll never give in here to the wanting crowd
…if you spread your wings now…

But feathers gone, the lofty fall and our dirty wings drag us down
Our grounded souls will witness all these bombs fall down
And as you crash into the sand you sing of places above
And how for once you found more than this love

Did you think I’d mind?
There’s still ice on my windows and spring has come and gone
Its come and gone
We’ve come and gone

This Is Your Place

Written By: Andy B White

The lakes are frozen with ice and the beaches white with snow these days
Still I walk and I wait for summer’s changing waves and your face

This is your place
Why must I wait?
Can’t you find yourself and stay?

What could the coastline hold or the mountain roads say besides, “Come home”
You said your home was by my side
Is there more to know?
Is there more to try?

This is your place
Why must I wait?
Can’t you find yourself and stay?

Oh, grow up dear
We’ll always fear the rain
And this time apart only allows your heart to fade

This is your place
Why must I wait?
Can’t you find yourself and stay?
Can’t you find yourself and stay?
