Andy Cloninger

BandRockAcoustic

Andy Cloninger plays acoustic rock music with lyrical insight and musical deliciousness. Through well crafted and heartfelt lyrics, he connects with listeners who long for the deeper things and also like to have a good laugh at life's randomness and/or it's absurdity.

Biography

Andy Cloninger is a singer/songwriter who rocks you, your momma and your kids. His acoustic based rock, folk, and Christian music is tasty on arrangement, smart on lyrics and deep in areas of the heart. He has released 3 solo independent CDs as well as 3 CDs with his acoustic rock bionic duo Dog Named David. He also has written for several other bands including good looking Christian rockers Big Daddy Weave. He has recently entered the realm of children's music, writing the music for two suave and spunky children's musicals produced by traveling theatre company Jitterbug Theatre Productions. In non-musical areas, he has written two Christian devotional books for Lighthouse books/Cook Communications. But his greatest accomplishments by far are his 3 1/2 children, Kaylee Drew, Reed and soon to be named. He makes his home in Daphne, AL with his lovely wife Jenni (who deserves most of the credit for the kids anyway), where he also owns and operates Dancing Dog Studios, producing, engineering, mixing, and sometimes mastering CDs for other artists.

The Changing Me

Written By: Andy Cloninger

The Changing Me
Words and Music by Andy Cloninger

I want to love
with a power that’s astounding
I want to look at myself
and no longer understand what’s going on
And that’s not all

(Chorus 1)
I want to be lifted up, spun around,
rearranged, and set back down
I want to lose myself, to find my way,
be laid to rest to live eternally
I want to meet the changing me

I want to shine
and no one even notice
Let ‘em look past
as long as everybody gets the light,
then that’s alright

(Chorus 2)
I want to be set on fire, but not consumed,
be lit up like a harvest moon
I want meet the folks that I used to hate
and wonder why this love’s replacing me
Come on, Meet the changing me

[Bridge]
I am a vision, a story that is half unwritten
I am a journey, arriving at this one decision
I won’t look back to see how things will be
I’m gonna keep the changing... me

He Drives On

He Drives On
Words and Music by Andy Cloninger

Broken, brown, wrinkled, and worn
Tracks that run across his forehead
Sunken down, tattered, and torn
Cracks in this highway filled by who he once was
So he drives on

Desert wind bleeds through his window
It brushes back his hand-worn hair
He wishes that it could carry his sorrow
But it just burns him, and leaves his sorrow there
So drives on

(Chorus)
His past revs like an engine
His future’s a prophet that fails to prophesy
His present has no wrapping or ribbons
If he can’t go back, and he can’t move ahead
The only decision that he has left is to drive on

The wedding ring on his dashboard reminds him
How love grows bitter as it wears you thin
And like the ring, he swings ‘round in circles
He feels in seasons, he doesn’t know where to begin
So he drives on

He wished this road was a runway to launch him
He’d stretch his arms just to embrace the blue
But it’s a racetrack that rumbles him onward
If he takes the lead, then he falls back a lap or two
But still he drives on

(Repeat Chorus)

(Bridge)
Trees can’t grow on the highway asphalt
There’s no place for their roots to dig in
He’s dying inside. He says its not his fault
But he rips up his roots as he moves on again

(tag)
He drives on...He drives on...

Walk On

Written By: Andy Cloninger

How can I go on,
Where is all the strength and love I used to have?
How can I believe,
Where are all the reasons that,
The reasons that I started this?

(Chorus 1)
Lord, You were worn out,
Lord You felt like this before,
When You cried out in the garden of Your grief and You said
Father, please take this cup from me
But still you walked on

When will it begin,
When will I rise up from all this apathy
And When will this all end,
When will all the rain fall down,
And wash away what’s blinding me

(Chorus 2)
Lord, You were worn out,
Lord You felt like this before,
When You fell down on the road to Calvary and you thought
Father, your will is wounding me
But still you walked on, Still You walked on

(Bridge)
And I’m not alone, I’m not alone,
I have a God that’s felt this way before (Repeat)
