BACKHOME

Written By: Andy Freedman

Look in the mirror and wonder what I see
Look in the mirror and wonder what I see Can we all hangout the way things used to Be?
Remember what we all said backthen we Wanted to be?
Those were our Highschool years
Who imagined this would be reality?
Visited with Bobby longago
Backwhen we were 15
He was gonna be a Superstar
He told Everyone he would Quarterback an NFL team we all believed he’d go far
Tossing the ball in his parents backyard
Dreaming of having his face on a Topps Football card
But today he’s 30 and injured he got hurt
In a military not a Football uniform instead
In a military not a Football uniform instead
He’s wounded but I’m happy he’s not dead
He’s wounded but I’m happy he’s not dead
Hopes he made a difference hopes he was Right
We have some beers and check out girls all Night
We laugh about the olddays
When we snuck out of our homes and Hungout til 3am that’s right
Teenagers hanging out until the early Sunlight
Bobby almost cry’s when he remembers
That game back in Highschool where he Threw a ball with all his might
An ex-Quarterback in a military uniform Wounded in combat
What a sad sight
An ex-Quarterback in a military uniform Wounded in combat
What a sad sight
An ex-Quarterback in a military uniform Wounded in combat
What a sad sight
Chorus
Old friends you see when your back in town
The joy the sorrow the pain
I start to wonder has the world gone
Insane?
Old friends you see when your back in town
The joy the sorrow the pain
I start to wonder has the world gone
Insane?

Jimmy backthen when we were 15 told me
To always go for what I feel
To pursue my dreams until succsess
Makes the old wounds heal
Jimmy cheered me on when I left and went
Away to college
He said he hoped I’d be ok
Backwhen we were 15 every singleday
I left my ranting and raving parents behind
A park and a Basketball game I looked to find
I nailed jumpshots over Jimmy every time
And drove to the lane
Now years later I see him standing in the Pouring rain
Today he works security
Guards buildings for some company
Is trying to use his money
To pay back the bank and keep his home
Has a kid and a girl who may become his Wife
What I saw cut like a knife
He struggles against foreclosure
To keep a better life
The mother of his child wants to be his wife
She thinks for religious reasons it’s right
As he talks to me about his bills
He sounds like a boxer getting ready for a Fight
I wonder if he misses a payment what will
He do for the night?
I wonder if he misses a payment what will
He do for the night?
I do a little writing to try and get my feelings Down
I can’t believe how much worse things are
Since I came back to visit town
Chorus
Melissa looked so fine backthen
With her sexy body
The way she walked and talked warmed my
Heart
I never wanted us to be apart
She hugged me when I left for college
And went away
When I finally saw her after 10 years I didn’t Know what to say
She’s got a rock for a heart and a disguise For a face
After pushing every man who liked her since Me away
She’s got two kids and another one on the Way
Her kids are miserable and she doesn’t Know what to say
She tells me about her career
Her kids lives oh she claims to care
Her kids lives oh she claims to care
She hovers over me like a hurricane
Wheather she’s got a gun in her hand
Or a corporate hatchet women’s pen
And an evil downsizing mind
What she’s going to do next I don’t want to Find
Out about
It’s a sad reality how people stop being who They used to be
Chorus
