Bio
Andy Gunn learned his craft from listening to the old blues masters such as Lightnin' Hopkins and Muddy Waters after tracing the sound back from the rock music music he was originally into as a teenager...immersed in this rich musical heritage, it wasn't long before he hit the big time and signed a worldwide recording contract with Pointblank, Virgin's blues label, with his school band Jumpin' The Gunn. Travelling to Memphis, he rubbed shoulders and exchanged riffs with Albert Collins and Pops Staples to name a few...back in Britain he has since released albums with Provogue and played alongside The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, in Gary Moore's Midnight Blues Band, with Martin Stephenson and with blues harp player Errol Linton.
Personal highlights for Andy would be when he supported Buddy Guy at the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, jammed with Albert Collins in London or backing up Geno Washington at the Tartan Heart Festival.
Recently he went on a busman's holiday across the states where he met and jammed with many great musicians in the big music centers such as New York, Chicago, Memphis, Nashville and New Orleans... soaking up the inspiration and walking the avenues of his musical heroes...
His latest album "Regional Variations" is a great mix of blues, rock and folk music that sees all these influences and experiences blended together to create a sound brimming with soul and originality and will shortly be available through the new website coming soon...
