Lyrics

How Lucky

Written By: Andy If (ASCAP)

I saw your bags packed by the door
I saw your face and I knew it all
I heard your Dad leaning on the horn
I heard something you said and you were gone
It was then that I felt so empty inside
I felt that way for a long long time
and when people ask about you even today
there’s only one thing that I can say

How lucky could I get?
How lucky could I get?
Lost and lonely, yea you bet
How lucky could I get?

I guess I wasn’t every young girl’s fantasy
You’re Dad sure hated me
Grab your stuff he snarled and off you ran
Me I’m hanging in doing all I can
I got the old place got no place to go
I’ve got some old friends that still say Hello
and even today if I get that inquiry
there’s only one thought that occurs to me

How lucky could I get?
How lucky could I get?
Scared and lonely, yea you bet
How lucky could I get?

How lucky could I get?
How lucky could I get?
Scared and lonely, yea you bet
(Knowing sorry and regret
I’m sorry for the day we met)
How lucky could I get?

What can I say here I am
Living in the land of Uncle Sam
Won’t do what the people say
Things are ok in the USA

Don’t get the wrong impression of my chosen profession
Feeling no pain that’s my obsession
but please don’t bore me with the details
don’t bore me with the details

What can I say if I had to do it all again
I might make some but I’d still lose some friends
Don’t care what the people say
Just keep doing it the American way

Don’t get the wrong impression of my chosen profession
Feeling no pain that’s my obsession
but please don’t bore me with the details
don’t bore me with the details

Older and Wiser

Written By: Andy If

OLDER & WISER

If you wake up in the morning
and you’re not in your own bed
There’s a stranger lying by your side
and a pounding in your head
you’re grabbing for your shoes
and headed out the door
(You’ll say) I’m older and I’m wiser I won’t do that anymore

If you’re driving down the road
and you’ve got one eye closed
You’re concentrating on the dotted line
you pray will take you home
You closed down the bars
at a quarter past four
(You’ll say) I’m older and I’m wiser I won’t do that anymore

Yea, yea, yea I won’t do that anymore
Now that you mention it I’ve said that once before
If you learn something once you shouldn’t have to learn again
So benefit from my experience my friends

If you find yourself at the juncture
between what’s right and wrong
Try to remember the message
of my humble song
When someone offers you something
that’s just too good to ignore
Just say I’m older and I’m wiser I won’t do that anymore
