Hard work is something that Andy Murphy is no stranger to, having worked in the labor force for many years it is evident that his work ethic carries over to his music. His tireless energy and intense vocals have earned him respect of any stage he sets foot on. His music is a mix of Swamp/pop/folk that keeps people stomping their feet and chugging their beers. Having played all over Canada he has always been able to represent his east coast roots by turning every show into kitchen party on steroids.
Growing up on the east coast was wear Andy learned his love for music; he was involved in choirs from a very early age. Andy began playing guitar at the age of 12 and later began writing songs of his own performing them at many local venues through out New Brunswick.
Though Andy’s east coast charm has helped him tame the surliest of crowds it wasn’t until Andy took the act on the road that he began to see his place. Calling Calgary his home for a brief time he was able to demonstrate is talents to a much larger audience. It wasn’t long before Andy finishing in the top spots for many local songwriting competitions (more notably the “vibe 98.5 Star search” - Calgary) and in the top ten for the “national radio star maker” competition based out of Toronto. Andy’s efforts with his music also earned him a spot on the reality TV show “Dreamchasers” which aired nationally in September 2008.
Now Andy finds himself in Montreal where he is able to perform in front of many different crowds performing regularly at many of the local venues in Montreal and participating in events hosted by Pop Montreal. He has just released his debut EP “Rally for your Rifles” a long with three indie video’s that has started the ball rolling in all the right direction
