"Stepping into the Spotlight"

If you were ever hoping to find a British Jack Johnson, then stop looking now, for I have found your man and he's coming to Hungerford on Sunday.
Robinson is a cool, rather dishy acoustic folky musician with a slightly husky voice for his beautiful, sweet melodies.
His debut album "For the NightHawks and Morning Birds", is currently available on download from ITunes and, as an artist, he appears to be one of those rare finds, that is just moments away from hurtling into mainstream music mania.
Hailing from Worcester, he has astutely picked up on the English way of life and laced it into his lyrics.
The opening tracks on the album,"Sweet Cigarettes" has the rythmn and bounce of old style rock 'n roll, with cleverly placed political mention of today's "nanny state", that we live in.
"Smoke, smoke, smoke" goes the fast-paced chorus, with a sense of gentle rebellion.
Perhaps smoking is actually the reason for the huskiness or maybe it is just part of his overall tendency to sing about wanting to be somewhere that isn't as restrictive as Britain.
His song "Forget about it all" also alludes to thoughts of leaving behind the pressures of England to become a "roaming gypsy".
You get the sense, he's a big fan of hippie icons of the 60's and 70's, such as Bob Dylan and the Mamas and Papas (and I doubt if he would ever deny that).
But his tunes are refreshing and intereting to listen to both musically and lyrically.
Robinson is set to release a debut single in March via MX3 Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music, but you can see him before he gets too famous at the Railway Tavern, on Sunday December 14th, supported by The Elks..
Incredibly this cracking evening at The Railway Tavern is free to attend and the music is expected to kick off at 8.30 p.m. - Helen White, "Newbury News"

"Debut Album Reviews"

This is Fresh
by Tee.....
Conjuring up The Beat Poets, Down and Outs, urban landscapes and our mundane lives, while containing messages of Love, Peace and Hope for all, this album really affects the Soul. Both dark and light in nearly equal measures Andy Robinson gives a stunning vocal and multi-instrumental performance. From the reality and power of "Happiness" to the up beat brass driven Gypsy groove of "That Girl" into the Cotton Field sing-a-long of "Sunshine When it Rains" I cannot recommend this Album enough!

Rather Good

How the hell hasn't the whole world heard of this kid yet? Decent music for once.

For real music lovers

This boy is putting the "tune" back into music. Every song here is worth downloading. If I heard stuff like this more often, I would stop being such a music cynic!

This kid has a fantastic future. Download this now, its fresh, clean and clever. You will not be disapointed. One man and his guitar and wow such a voice. "Daughter of the Sky" is cool and "In a Whisper" is haunting. More please.

Bio

My mother, Mama Cass, and fathers, Bob Dylan and Brian Wilson, have made me what I am.

I'm a coffee cup kid of just 21 summers with a love of sound from the down and out beats (poets that is) to the first summer of love.

Guitar, piano, clarinet, sax …….. I pull my melody from many lovers.

I welcome you all to my journey

Peace Andy
