"Kudos From Beatles Fan Club"

"Hey Andy, having grown up a "BEATLE"S" nut, a teenager in the 60's, I could'nt resist checking out your version of the Beatle classic. I have to tell you, I love it!! I've played it about five times and the more I hear it, the more I like it. You and your group did an outstanding job making that song your own, yet keeping that original Beatle mystique. I do afternoons at KJOY, 99.3 F.M. in Stockton,Ca. We're a light rock format, Doobie Bros., Michael Jackson , Journey, etc. I wish our program director could play this, it would have to pass the red tape of other market play times, record sales, station surveys, etc. As I'm sure you know, the old days of radio , that I was a part of, would play music the D.J. liked. We would take listener calls rating the new song and base that on playability (I think I made a new word?) I admire your creativity and wish you all the best. Please keep in touch. Sincerely, Dave Bowling KJOY 99.3 Stockton, California"

" This is a beautiful version of "Eleanor Rigby"! It is rocked out in just the right way, enhancing the song rather than changing it. The straight vocals and the vocals with effects were very nicely interspersed and the rocked-out arrangement made everything work well together. The Beatles would be proud. The musicianship is very good across the board, as well as the production. The mix is big and everything is well-balanced and easily distinguishable. This is very well-done! Great work, guys! Feel free to comment on this review using the Community Feedback feature on my profile page. Thanks for letting me listen to this song!"

"RATING SCALE "1" Indicates the Lowest Score "5" Indicates The Highest Score Recording Quality/Production: 4 Lead Vocals: 4 Musicianship: 4.5 Lyric Writing: 4.5 Music Composing: 4.5 Melodies: 5 Song Arrangement: 4 Quality of EPK Content: 4 Overall Delivery: 4 ----------------------------- Dear Andy, Thanks for submitting the material for the evaluation. I enjoyed the two songs in your EPK very much. The Beatles cover song was very well done. Being a huge fan of The Beatles - I was thrilled to hear such a cool version of Eleanor Rigby. To give you insight to the scoring scale above, the majority of artists score in the 2.5 to 3.5 range in the various categories. When an artist sees 4, 4.5 or 5 as their score in a category, it's a validation from a professional, confirming that the songs are of the highest level and show strong potential in the ultra-competitive music industry."

"Major Doomsday Airplay"

"So back in January, the hard rock trio Andys Doomsday Device released a single as a teaser for their forthcoming album (they had a self-titled release in 2009). Known for playing several cover tunes at live shows, ADD here presents their version of The Beatles classic Eleanor Rigby. And if you were thinking to yourself, "Self, I like this cornerstone of classic rock, but I'd really like it to rock a bit harder," then you're in luck. And the story isn't entirely about the single, but the surprising airplay of the single in radio stations in Spain, Ireland, Scotland, and Canada, as well as Georgia, Ohio, Texas, and (closest to home) on The Current. "I'm awfully excited about this song," they wrote in their e-mail newsletter. "It's our best work yet. And soon after that we'll be releasing our original music and then our CD. So, bear with me, I'm not one to bother you too much, but keep your eyes on us." So listen to the song below: "

Artist: Andy's Doomesday Device

CD: Self-Titled

Home: Chillicothe, Ohio

Style: Progressive Rock

Quote: "Their enthusiasm for good old fashioned rock is contagious."

A little progressive rock with a splash of metal and southern rock: Andy's Doomesday Device rock hard on their self-titled effort. Starting off with the spacey intro "And so it begins...," we're led into "Shallow Be The Waters," a tight slice of pure rock. Next is "Look How Far You've Come," a dirty, southern-flavored piece with a catchy hook.

The pace slows down a notch with "The Willing Mind," a slow burning anthem that builds into an epic crescendo, featuring some very nice drum and guitar work. We catch a glimpse of the softer side of Andy's Doomesday Device on "Never Said Never," a sweet love song. But it's not long before they kick up the tempo again - "Out Of Her Way" is a solid piece of rock, as is "It's All Over" - I particularly loved the warn vocals on the latter. "On My Own" has a very metal influence, with some fantastic riffs, while "My Illusion" is a classic piece that is extremely catchy.

The finale is "Song of Understanding," an epic 8 1/2 minute prog-rock concept song. It's actually labeled in four different parts, to illustrate the transitions that occur within the music. There's the slowly building intro: Part A, "Bless The Fire"; Part B, "The Lake", a guitar interlude; Part C, "Damn My Eyes," a burst of hard rock; and finally, the outro, Part D - "Stride of Chronos," a flurry of guitar action.

I really enjoyed the rock stylings of Andy's Doomesday Device – they're excellent players with a sense for creating classic pieces of music. While I liked every song individually, the inclusion of major concept songs like "Song of Understanding" juxtaposed to the country-rock style of songs like "Look How Far You've Come" wasn't entirely what I had expected when I first popped the CD in. Perhaps a concept album is in order? Still, I think it proves how versatile this band is – and their enthusiasm for good old fashioned rock is contagious.
