Bio
Andy Stack is far too complex to be “just the next pop star”.He drops more guitar knowledge than paparazzi snap pictures. He switches gears like a chameleon changes skins.
He connects past with present, acoustic with electric, sweet and sad. An unassuming urbanite with vintage T's, Adidas low tops, shaggy hair and a wristband; the 24-year-old
singer-songwriter/bandleader displays an understated confidence and a sad but hopeful realism.
"I've never worked a day job, because I’ve never had to”, Stack says. At age 12, he took his self-taught musical talents to the streets...Literally. His path eventually led him to NYC where he found work as a Guitarist doing everything from T.V jingles to record dates while touring Europe. Having had his fill of freelance work, Stack was ready to move on to a solo endeavor. He wrote, arranged and played almost everything on his long-anticipated debut album “Start”.
Infused with the spirited soul of Jeff Buckley, the songwriting sensibility
of Paul Simon, and the ambient guitar work of Radiohead, “Start.” is a
fresh alchemy of rock, folk, pop, and jazz.
For the live show, Andy teamed up with two similarly diverse young artists, Anthony Riscica (drums, backup vocals, sampling), and Gregg Leventhal (bass). Together they form a captivating trio, bringing their audience on an adventurous and dynamic ride.
Riscica’s brings a fresh approach and energetic presence to the drum kit. Intricate cymbal work from jungle, jazz and hip-hop permeate his rock style. Gregg Leventhal plays the bass, pure and solid in roots/rock/reggae fashion. Fans and critical music-heads alike catch Stack singing into a vintage guitar, engineering an eerily angelic sound from a hush to a roar. Riscica and Leventhal keep the energy and groove escalating throughout the show. Live, the three bring the songs to life with their unique and soulful style.
Andy Stack and his trio will be hitting the road in 2005, catch them if you can....
