i was 7 when my sisters boyfriend rehearsed in a dingy basement in pittsfield mass.Van Halen had just hit the airwaves and was regularly interrupting the drone of disco.the 4 piece gaggle of adolescent were playing "you really got me" and getting high. In 6th grade i played drums for a high school band,in highschool i played drums for a grateful dead cover band(my first full time pay gig), it was there i learned to play guitar and fell in love with"the well written song". In the 90's i was blessed to be in my twenties and be in a 3 piece power pop alt. rock band with my little brothers.Zig Zag Zen took my brothers and i all over the north east but mostly around our home in syracuse ny from 1994-2000. My older sister brought the families rock fantasy full circle by marrying the owner and musical talent indie label Anomaly records. Christopher Hobler loved our music and signed us to his label and we began work on our first label production in 2000, it was then we faced unforeseen darkness. Chris was stricken with lou gherigs disease (als) and died in 2005, the record company died with him. For one year zig zag zen worked and toured without its members having to hold day jobs, and i will always be grateful to My brother in law Chris for that. Ultimately he became the most important influence on my writing. My brothers and i live near to one another and get together to rock as often as we can, we all have homes filled with children now,and look forward to the next generation of zig zag zen in them. I maintain a myspace page and upload new music and old live shows for fans, but only play out every so often. I am currently seeking employment as a songwriter.
