First up were the Dead Beat club, fresh from their album launch a few days earlier. With singer Andy Tucker, a Caledonian Lowell George, giving it all from his sandalled feet to his hirsute head they ripped through some gems including Last Man to Fall and Circa 65. With a nice line in sardonic lyrics and some solid playing backing Tucker's emotive vocals they finished all too soon. - website
Edinburgh's Dead Beat Club is one of Bluesbunny's favourite live acts. It was with some trepidation, therefore, that we approached this review of their first album "Random Heartfelt Trinkets". Could they match that live magic in the studio environment?
Lead singer Andy Tucker has one of those great country soul voices and he has undertaken all the song writing duties here as well. He has a neat way with words and paints pictures of ordinary people and their lives. "Broken Heels" takes us down that potholed yellow brick road that passes as the path to love these days. He's a sentimental guy obviously but, even so, he does not shy away from tackling thornier issues such as alcoholism in "My Drunk Girlfriend". The songs might have themes familiar from country music but the settings are definitely the big city. Our favourites were the melancholy yet hypnotic "Man Overboard" and the catchy "Sidetracked".

Formed in 2005, the Dead Beat Club played a number of high profile gigs in the last year including Elbow’s aftershow party at GIG and Snow Patrol’s New Year party featuring Belle & Sebastian.
They’ve been lucky enough to play with some great UK and international acts such as Angus & Julia Stone Nick Harper, Horse, Karine Polwart, James Yorkston, Kevin Montgomery, Attic Lights, The Hazey Janes, The Cosmic Rough Riders on 2 dates of their national tour and The Beautiful South at their 2006 T On the Fringe gig.
They have just played Celtic Connections at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall.
Their debut album was released in September 2007 and the band were recently filmed for STV and interviewed on Radio Forth and by The Scotsman.
In the summer of 2007 they did gigs in New York, Holland and King Tuts in Glasgow.
