Andy Wilson

Andy Wilson

My music is currently in transition. I love expressing my feelings through songwriting and detest the cheesiness of many of todays watered down talents. Lyrics are very important as is the message. The music itself is moving from uplifting acoustic folk to a heavier darker trip/folk rock style.

Andy managed to escape a 22 year long traffic jam in Dublin to the more tranquil surroundings and music haven that is Cork City. Having played guitar with alt rock band Matagouri, his passion for performing and writing was burning stronger than ever. It wasn't long before he was organising solo concerts and opening for established acts such as Mark Geary, David Kitt and Joseph Arthur. An experimental band formation in late 03/early04 with gifted guitarist Chris Percival was pretty interesting, lots of fun to see and didn't sound too bad either! Currently working on a handmade home debut recording, Andy's songwriting and performance is ever developing and improving.

I have given out two seperate one off demos at concerts i organised at the Triskel Arts Centre in Cork in 04 and 05. Each with four original tracks and entitled 'Howya' and 'It's all in your head' these were too short to be called 'EPs'. I'm currently piecing together recordings and adding some new/re recording songs to shape a record of my songwriting to date.
