Bio
Daughter of the legendary Itamar Assumpção, Anelis is becoming a success in her own right. In her debut album, Anelis shows how afro-beat, Brazilian grooves, reggae and hip-hop can blend in such a sexy way.
The album is entitled “Sou Suspeita Estou Sujeita Não Sou Santa” includes a handful of original songs and was also released on vinyl. Recorded between June 2009/January 2011, the album was produced by Anelis with Zé Nigro, except for the track Quaresmeira, which features the work of guitarist Gustavo Ruiz. Special guests include Céu, Thalma de Freitas, Karina Buhr and others.
Her soothing low voice and theatrical interpretation on stage stress the Power of her lyrics: on “Bola com os amigos” she directly addresses a common frustration amongst Brazilian women: her beau is out playing soccer with friends... Her lyrics could easily be those of comic strips on a newspaper: funny, direct, acid...
