ANeWMe was conceived in the mind of founding members to contrast the local music scene in Anderson, Indiana. Since it was a college town, everyone enjoyed acoustic, piano-driven folk/rock. Nothing special. Founding members Steve Berry and Matt Steenbergh wanted to be LOUD! As we started writing we discovered our niche in the local indie rock scene. We were known on the college campus as "that one Weezer cover band," since our sound was very similar to that of Weezer.
About one year from our first practic/jam session, we began to play more shows around the Indianapolis area, including Lafayette, Shelbyville, New Castle, Fishers, Noblesville, and other surrounding cities. We also noticed our popularity was growing! We would notice our name being tossed around in online music forums, and on more than one occasion we could see people in the crowd singing along!
ANeWMe continues to write and perform original music with a positive message that's catchy, energetic, loud and something an audience can have fun dancing to!
