Bio

Angela Hall is the ninth of ten children born to Bobby Gene Hall, Sr. and Josephine Hall. She grew up in Red Hook projects, located in Brooklyn, NY and she first gave her life to the Lord when she was 8 years old. Growing up with a musical father (that recorded music with the Gospel Monitones) seemed to ensure that all of the Hall children would sing and/or play a musical instrument. Subsequently, Angie Hall showed a deep interest in the performing arts all through grade school and pursued a career in the arts.

She went on to receive a BFA in Musical Theatre while attending college at the Boston Conservatory of Music. She landed her first professional “gig” at the end of her freshman year and she worked continuously after that for over a decade. During this time, she was a featured performer in the Tony Award winning Broadway musical Black and Blue (for 2 years) and performed in touring companies of Broadway shows across the United States. After Black and Blue, Angela worked in film and garnered roles in the films of award winning directors such as Robert Altman, Spike Lee, and Anthony Minghella. She also performed in regional theatre in New York and Boston and made appearances on television sitcoms, soap operas, and commercials.

Although Angela was fortunate enough to have an extensive 13-year performing career, it was at this point that she left the Lord to reach for her personal aspirations. It was after working on a Robert Altman film in Los Angeles, California, that the Lord began to call Sis. Angela back to ministry and she listened.

She became an active member of The St. Mary Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, NY. Under the pastorship of the Rev. David Butler, Angela has been diligently serving in ministry for the past 16 years. While at St. Mary Church of God in Christ, Sis. Hall has refined her musical gifts and deepened her walk with the Lord. Leading devotional service, directing choirs, and serving as the director of the St. Mary Church of God in Christ Academy of Music (alongside her brother Elder Jonathan Hall) prepared Angela Hall for a time such as this. Although her brother Kenneth Hall was called home to glory, he left a legacy of music that would force Sis. Hall to become the soprano that she is today. You see, Kenny had a group called had a group called The Gospel Euphonics and Angie (then an alto singing adolescent) was forced to become a soprano because Kenny needed sopranos for his group.

After joining the St. Mary family, Sis. Hall went into the field of education and received a MST in Teaching and a MS in Administration. She has been serving the Mount Vernon School District for 13 years. Additionally, she serves as the administrator of the St. Mary C.O.G.I.C. Education Department.

Sister Angela Hall is saved, sanctified, and filled with God’s precious Holy Ghost. Now, more than anything, she aspires to be in the perfect will of the Lord. She says, “Living for Jesus is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am a witness that giving your life to Christ is the sweetest thing since sugar cane. If you are reading this program and don’t know the Lord, I recommend that you give him a try…before the night is over (smile).”
