Biography

Available on CD and iTunes today, Angela Latti’s self-titled debut album reaches out to listeners from a unique triad perspective: That of a black female musical artist, an entrepreneur and a feminist. Angela’s 11-track album tackles important issues such as female empowerment, the complications of love, spirituality vs. religion, economic hardship… even straight up sex! Whatever the topic, each song deals with a real-life issue. Yet, all the while, the songs have infectious beats you often can’t get out of your mind.

Angela Latti is a self-made woman who has made a comfortable place for herself in this world and uses her strength to uplift women and enlighten men through her music. In fact, the release of this album – from start to finish- was choreographed independently, released on her own Yemalla record label.

Her music mixes a number of genres including R&B, reggae, hip hop and pop. Angela’s self-penned lyrics, by all accounts, are moving! Several of her songs carry the theme of empowering women, yet many of her songs are simply fun and uplifting. Through her music, Angela aims to encourage women to have pride, confidence and ambition, but, at the same time, have a sense of humor and not take themselves too seriously.

Case in point: the funny and downright sexy debut single, “Prescription.” In the song, the word “prescription” is used as a synonym for sex; it’s a fun look at male and female perspectives on the subject. Also showing her playful side, on “See You”, Angela takes the listener through a daydream conversation with a handsome stranger.

On a more serious note, in “Princess and Queens”, Angela reminds women they need to be happy to follow their own path and not change just to please a few temporary friends. This theme continues in the song, “Persevere”, where she reminds us that what we put into ourselves is what we get. In “Sticks and Stones”, Angela sings that while we’re all vulnerable, some criticism may have some value in keeping us from going down the wrong path.

Angela’s philosophy is that singing about personal experience is essential to connecting and interacting with her audience and creating meaningful, timeless songs. She explains, “I tend to write straight from my own soul. I feel that artists should strive to connect to their audiences via real issues—make their listeners think about life, emotions and choices.”

Angela Latti's music is a call to action for everyone to take a closer, deeper look and see where we are in our lives. In her words, “Our full potential and promise is within us, we have to remember that we are the ones in charge of bringing it out!”

Ain't No Love

Written By: Clement Harrigan

Verse 1
He only puts you down to hide his insecurities
cause deep inside he know he don't deserve your loyalty
cause everytime he cuss you out and beat you down girl
he's praying that you’ll stick around
he's hoping no one else will notice you
because he knows what he stands to lose
so now you tell your girlfriends at the job that you fell again
and when he grabbed you by the arm he's only playing
its sad to say but he'll never stop
baby girl that aint what loves about

chorus
That aint no love no
when he tell you that he love you
then he turn around and black up your eye
that aint no love no
when he say how much he miss you
but he can't find his way home at night
That aint no love
That aint no love no
when he tell you that you’re beautiful
and he turn around and black up your eye
that aint no love no
when he say how much he miss you
but he can't find his way home at night
that aint no love no
and I hate to break it to you girl
but that just aint what loves about
that aint no love

verse 2
Girl he doesn't have a clue what you're going thru
he's more concerned with his style than being good to you
and now you blame yourself for something that you didn't do
its not your fault that he don't appreciate you
wish you could see what you're doing to yourself
and all because of someone else
so now he tells you last time was the last time
beating on you like it was his past time
wish you could see that he's just so insecure
even he knows you deserve more
I hate to say it but he'll never stop
baby girl that aint what loves about

chorus

verse 3
He only puts you down to hide his insecurities
because he knows what you deserve he will never be
broken hearted and bruised your still beautiful
he see the fellas in the streets how they look at you
and even as he pushes you away
he's hoping that you'll stay and never go away
girl he doesn't have a clue what you're going thru
he more concerned with his style than with loving you
its sad to say but he'll never stop
baby girl that aint what loves about

chorus

Be There

Written By: Angela Lattibeaudiere/Clement Harrigan

Only say the word and baby I'll be there
Cause you were there for me when no one else would care
Before any money or material things
I only knew the joy that your loving could bring
I know this world could be such a crazy place
and sometimes all you need is a familiar face
So as long as you need that's how long I'll stay
here by your side and I ain't going no where

Chorus
So when you need me I will be there
More than a lifetime loving you
And if you need me I will be there
I'll spend my lifetime loving you
So when you need me I will be there
You won't miss my loving
And if you need me I will be there
I'll spend my lifetime loving you

Verse 2
If you need to cry then my shoulder is yours
From the start when I had doubts you made me feel secure
Everything that you had you were willing to share
Leave you at your time of need, I'll never dare
If ever times get cold you'll have my warm embrace
I'll be strong and make sure that you're always safe
And no matter how bad, in the worst of times
I will always support you there's no pretense

chorus

Verse 3
I know you've got your pride and you're man who'll survive
but how could I say I love you and not stick by your side
everytime that I needed you were always there
So I could I see you down and just not care
As I would to any friend of mine
I'll never leave you in the rough of hard times
you don't know what you mean to me
I'll never leave you helpless out there
So anytime you need me, I'll be
And anytime you want boy, I'll be
So anytime you need me you got me, Yeah yeah

Never Gonna Leave You

Written By: Angela Lattibeaudiere/Clement Harrigan

Thinking back on how it used to be
Before there was ever you and me
Cloudy days is all I ever see
But then there you came like the sunshine
and not just for now but for all time
suddenly there's possibilities
you gave of yourself like no other man
and even took the time out to understand
and this is why there's no me without you

chorus
I'm never gonna leave you lonely
more than my one you're my only
never gonna leave you my baby
even when you drive me crazy
never gonna leave you no way
never gonna leave you no way

Verse 2
So many trials that we've been thru
you held my hand when I couldn't see thru
and now all I think about is you
we've had our share of good and some bad times
rainy nights came down with the sunshine
baby there's nothing we can't do
so let them talk and say what they want to
they don't know how much that we've been thru
cause there's no me without you

chorus

Verse 3
Then there you came like the sunshine
and ever since that day you've been all mine
suddenly there's more that I can see
you gave of yourself like no other would
I'm never gonna leave you even if I could
baby there's no me without you

Conflict

Written By: Angela Lattibeaudiere/Clement Harrigan

forgive me god its been too long since our last discussion
forgive me once again if I ask too many questions
its you who gave me life and thru religion gave me faith
this very thing that brought me to you now I can't explain
I've learned thru your teachings that you made me to be free
I've also learned too many times to not say what I feel
But how can I be truthful and not speak what's on my mind
If honesty is the policy is it only some of the time

Chorus
My god my religion my conflict
My god my religion my conflict
My god my religion this is my conflict

I say its not about humility but all about reality
my conflict is the practice and the things that they are teaching me
I'd like to think there's good in every one
And I'd like to think you'll see us as all equal when its done
but I can't deny the questions that I've got deep down inside
why should I as a woman be not equal in your sight
They tell me I should trust and never question maybe so
But I can't deny religion cause its what it gave me hope

chorus

My god teach me to love, but they want me to discriminate
and you made me to live to my potential
but in the hands of a man they'll put my fate
Now how can I submit to being lesser than
If in your likeness and your image I was made
And you teach me to love my neighbor as myself
so how can I make war in your name, my god

Middle Class Poverty

Written By: Angela Lattibeaudiere/Clement Harrigan

So much are educated yet them can't find work
the value of the poor is right next to the dirt
children gone a school and learn them lesson for the future
but now they all grown up and see its all about the features
little girls have to do what they don't wanna do
swallow them pride a little only just fi get thru
heart broken many left without a clue same cry
discouraged bout the future what a we still try
can't let them keep we down in a di dust
in this a concrete jungle your survival is a must
college degree no longer guarantee a salary
hard knock life dem call it middle class poverty

middle class poverty (rpt 3 times)

verse 2
look at my brother trying hard to survive
its a shame what he got to do to stay alive
don't even pray no more, try hard to keep the faith
hungry belly tired feet and sleep can't wait
so now he's home after a twelve hour day
and every thing he knows is slowly slipping away
his wife is off to her second job
and now they wanna tell me money can't buy love
the only time they got is for hi and bye
cause he a hustle in the day and she a hustle by night
so politicians I don't hear what your telling me
but let me tell you ‘bout middle class poverty

verse 3
might not be sleeping on the streets
cause we aint sleeping at all
and the voices of the people they aint hearing the call
tell us a honest days work for a honest days pay
but we the people still a struggle and we just get played
so tell me what you saying cause I just can't figure it out
said education that I'd never be living without
now what about the promise you made to me
'bout working hard and shaping my own destiny
now I work hard and gave everything you asked of me
so tell me why I'm here in middle class poverty

Persevere

Written By: Angela Lattibeaudiere/Clement Harrigan

Quite possibly dem heard a we
those a we who persevere
in a di faces of adversity, dem know that we
made our success our own responsibility
and with our hands we a go shape we own a destiny
So thru the fire thru the rain
thru the pressure and the pain
one thing we a maintain
never miss it when we aim

chorus
Persevere
with everything you try
just look them in the eye and hold you head up to the sky
persevere
with everything you do believe and see it thru
your success it depends on only you
with everything you try
just look them in the eye and hold you head up to the sky
persevere
with everything you do believe and see it thru
your success it depends on only you

Tell them we nah go beg fi charity
but equal opportunity to pursue whats duly right to we
the fight to we can't be lost if we just aim and follow thru
remember your ambitions they depend on only you
so when the road gets rough
just smile and keep on moving
them doubters wrong every day we keep on proving
we been there before hard times ain’t nothing new
just work hard and stay true
