"I write songs for empty rooms and broken hearts in hopes to fill them up."When thinking of how to sum up what she does, no words could not ring more true. Angela has never cared as much for the spotlight as the personal connection with her listeners. She knows what it means to be out in the audience, some of her earliest memories are watching her mama on stage with her band. Even before she could talk, Angela was singing along with the radio and listening to the record player at her grandparents' house. When she was 10 years old, her grandparents gifted her with her first guitar for Christmas. It was so big compared to her that she learned three chords while it laid flat across her lap, then it sat in a closet for years. As she grew up, country music continued to be her favorite escape. At 15, she found a use for the guitar when she started writing songs, and landed her first paid show at 16 years old.
Country music has always been Angela's genre of choice, but for her, a good song is a good song. She listens to everything from classic rock to rap and enjoys covering these songs with her own take on them. Even in her short lifetime, she has witnessed many changes to the genre of country music and how it is defined. Many would describe what is heard now on the radio as pop-country, cookie cutter, wannabe rap, etc. Angela just sees it as the fans speaking up about the music on radio not being real. Listeners don't need to be educated on the music industry to know what they are hearing is over-produced & under-thought, with a budget for image and radio play. Authenticity is something the world so badly craves and Angela loves to give. She does not give a second thought to the fact that she is young, a woman, or other labels... she just delivers her intention in a real and honest way. Each song has a story and a purpose, never a string of key words to clue the listener they are in fact listening to "country".
Each person she encounters lends inspiration that allows her hundreds of experiences that she otherwise would have never had. She believes that songwriting is a practice in empathy as well as a way to make sense of life. Whether playing a new song for just one person or a crowd-favorite cover like "Desperado" in front a full theatre, Angela just enjoys being heard. She is equally at home whether it be performing in a hayloft for The Bucktown Revue, encouraging those touched by cancer at Quad Cities' "Race for the Cure", or playing the world famous "Bluebird Cafe" in Nashville, TN.
Angela is taking her lifetime dream of being a country music artist and turning it into action. Her goal is to make music her career and to help people along the way. Currently, she is writing for a new album, creating a website, and working on her first tour!
